It’s frustrating when you get to a tee box and the whole thing is slanted giving you an uneven tee shot.

I was thinking about this today, is this something courses do as a feature or is it just crappy course maintenance?

Does a pro ever deal with an intentionally slanted tee box?

A bit of both. Some world class golf courses have uneven tee boxes to promote a certain shot shape. Then some have them because they are goat ranches.

Played a course the other day that had the tee markers pointing you straight into a tree 50 yards away

I hate that. I can't stand the #11 tee box at Webb for this reason. Seems like I can never get lined up like I should for some reason on that tee box.

Yea half the time it’s just the guys cutting the grass who throw the tee markers down wherever they feel like in the moment. I had one today that was slanted right and pointed right at a tree on the left. So I guess I was supposed to hit a swinging draw driver around the tree with the ball below my feet

I've done that a couple times setting up the course with a real bad hangover. Or to frick with that group that has to go off at the crack of dawn.

I’ll move em when I see that shite. I’m simple minded and it messes my alignment up

Tee markets are not an alignment aid. Pete Dye, Alistair Mackenzie are two well known designers that challenge you alignment using off angle tees.

Often it is prolly the result of lazy setup guys but not always.
You can always use the club length you are permitted to tee behind the markers to improve your alignment.

On the course in Council Bluffs during the week of the College World Series. They had one hole where they were rebuilding all of the tee boxes.

Yeah it was pretty funny. The public course there next to Harrahs was so much nicer than 90% of the public courses here in Houston. With my senior rate, I played for $32.

The group they put me with had one guy hitting from the black, 2 of us at yellow & 1 woman at red. It was funny to see all 4 of us at the same place...

Because of the construction that became a 210 yard par 4 with a pond in front. The tips guy hit over the green in the brush while the rest of us laid up and did better. The pond was the equalizer.

We play a nine hole par 3 two man scramble each Tuesday. Got so pissed about the different uphill, downhill tee boxes with no grass I had to take on the job myself.

#8 at Santa Maria:

At least one of the tee boxes is sloped front to back. As someone whose miss is a hook, I hated that hole with OB on the left.

Are there any “designers” that always align the tee box to the target?

I played with a friend at Howell park(I think) that everytime he got to a slanted tee box, he would swear that he would rent a dozer one night and level them off.

I'll take slanted over hump-backed. There's a couple at The Links that drive me crazy.
