He’s also the fastest to break the $50 million barrier, doing it in 113 starts. By comparison, it took Tiger Woods 177 starts to eclipse the mark (he did it in 2005), Rory McIlroy 169 starts when he broke through in 2019 and Rahm 141 starts (the Spaniard accomplishing the feat at last year’s U.S. Open).

Discuss.

He is not a very charismatic guy but he is a extremely impressive player skill wise and he deserves his rewards.

Lot easier to do when two tournament wins are worth what 8-10 were in Tiger’s prime

Not really comparable because of the amount that purses have gone up.

Unreal. Scottie has been relatively dominant and he has 8 or 9 wins in his 113 starts.

Tiger had 177 events

I think Scheff's 117 makes it comparable even with inflated purses.

purses are triple or even quadruple what they were in Tiger's first 177 events. No it's not comparable. He won 4 times as many tournaments in his first 100 events.

Money won is not a good measuring stick. The purses today are so much larger than when Tiger first came out, and don't even compare money when discussing Jack, Arnie, Player, etc. Wins are the only way to fairly compare them. Guys today who never win are still millionaires if they make cuts.

2021: $4.5M (0 wins, 29 events, 24 cuts)
2022: $14M (4 wins, 25 events, 21 cuts)
2023: $21M (2 wins, 23 events, 23 cuts)
2024(so far): $15M+ (3 wins, 9 events, 9 cuts)

Tiger and LIV are the reason for the larger purses. It’s not an apples to apples comparison.

The purses are way bigger. Especially the last 2 years bc of LIV.

Stupid comparison.

Not even close. Tiger won $297k in his first tour victory. Scottie won $1.5m.
