I booked a place there for July 1-5. I just started playing golf March 27th. Just had my best round at 109. So paying a lot for a nice course doesn’t make a lot of sense. Anybody played at Raven, Baytown, Links, or Burnt Pine? I’m guessing two 18 rounds is the most I’ll play.

The easier courses there are Baytowne and the Links, though the Links has a lot of water. Not sure you can get on Burnt Pine and Raven may not be much fun given you haven't been playing long. I'd stick with Baytowne, see how that goes, then make an audible on the Links.

Bayetown is a fun layout and not too hardy only knock is they haven’t rebuilt the greens in its 55 years of being open. The grass on the green is not a traditional grass you find on greens- - it’s all been taken over. Basically you are putting on short cut rough. You gotta hammer putts. Chips clamp down like you just threw a sock on a Velcro dartboard.

As a new player, that may not be too bad. I’d suggest Bayetown and Links and just enjoy yourself

Have stayed there off & on for +/- 35yrs. Have played them all, but the one I always play when I can only play once is Links. The condeaux we usually stay in is on Links #14, so “Blondie” can witness my abilities…

Played the Raven last week. $170 and the greens had been punched recently so they were brutal.

If you are shooting a 109 I am not totally sure it would be worth it but that's really a decision for you I guess.

I did like the course but would not play it again unless the greens were good.

Definitely Baytowne given your experience level. Slower greens as others mentioned usually helps newer golfers with higher handicaps

Links is a nice course when the greens aren't just punched.

I've never played Burnt Pine and The Raven, and one is private so unless you're playing with a member you won't be able to anyways

Who is Blondie?

Sounds like Baytowne is best for a beginner. Doesn’t make much sense to shell out a bunch of money when I still blow up with snow mans on some holes.

Looking forward to playing, though.

"Blondie" is my precious bride of 35yrs. Partner in crime, drinkin' buddy, ride or die, whatever, but June 22 makes 35yrs...

Lemme know if you want to get on at emerald bay. It’s about 10-15 minutes from baytowne.

What kind of shape is Emerald in? Heading there Sat-wed and thinking of playing there. Always play regatta, and Kelly.

Played Regatta yesterday. Great shape although the faiways and greens are a little shaggy. Quick pace. Friendly staff. Cold towels on the course. It was $165 though which i thought was high.

As in playing together? I just shot my personal best of 109 and have a little under three months since I started FYI.

Idk it’s been raining since Sunday. I’ll be out there Friday and can report back.

Kelly and regatta are always nicer but I enjoy emerald bay for what it is.

I’m a member and happy to get you on whenever you want. We can go together if I’m able to play or I can just book you a guest tee time under my name if you don’t want to play with a stranger.

I haven’t played in 2 years and your 109 doesn’t worry me. I’m not much better.

Lemme know and I’ll put up my email for
You to reach out to.
