is making hay since winning with his brother. Did well last week with a top 10 finish and has the 54-hole lead this week. I thought he was riding Matt's coat tail but seems that he is pretty good on his own.

You were a casual for thinking that. Dude was ranked 7th on DP World Tour (top 10 get a PGA card). He had also won a couple weeks before the Zurich. In his only tour event a couple years ago, he finished 16th in the PGA Championship, including some stints on the leaderboard.
He's legitimately probably a top 10 player in the world right now if you exclude the Rahm 's and Dechambeau's of the world.
He's a very good player. He's always been a good player. The margins are incredibly tight once you are in the top 1000 in the World. All it takes is a couple good rounds and any of these guys can get hot and get on a run.
Hell, there is even a YouTuber doing well at the Myrtle event this week. Ryen Ruffles.

Yeah that front 9 and about 3 missed 4 footers at Quail Hollow says otherwise.
