Just picked up an older Scotty Cameron Newport 2 for cheap and was thinking about having it refinished. Looked at the Scotty Cameron website and it’s damn near the price of a new one to send it in.

Anyone ever send a putter off to a third party to get it cleaned up and repainted?

Might just try to do it myself if everyone is charging close to $300 for it.

That’s one I looked at and saw good reviews. Still just about as much as sending it back to Scotty Cameron.

BOS is the way to go, pick your finish and cheaper than Cameron

Don't do it. Not worth it or the hassle. I did it nearly 10 years ago when I had a really good connection to Titleist (Peter Uihlein) and had, at best, a mediocre experience. Friend of mine did it about a year or so ago and said it was terrible. Took 2 months? For some paint fill and a new grip? Plenty of other companies that will do a better job at a cheaper price.

Couldn't a good auto body shop do this on the cheap. I have a putter that needs a redo and thought about taking it to the local auto body repair and have them repaint it. Nothing fancy, just paint the damn thing.

I've used BOS, Labwrx and Continental. Continental by far does the best work and is the least expensive. In fact, I've got a putter coming in today that will be shipped to Continental tomorrow. Happy to answer any questions.

If you don't have it refinished by Scotty does it effect the value? Can you get a COA from Scotty if another business does the work?

Not unless it's a Circle T putter. Why would you get a COA on a non tour putter?

I don't know...Just assumed everyone got one after getting work done.

I'm new to collecting his stuff, sorry.

Sorry. Wasn't trying to be an arse. The only COA's that I've seen are on Tour Putters. These are also being counterfeited (COA's). Quite a few have shown up in the past 6-8 months. I suppose you can send it in and get one but from what I understand it's expensive.

Depends on what finish you want. If it’s non circle t and you want black oxide use BOS (they used to do the Scotty Tei3 putters for Scotty). If you want stainless or torched try putterspa or norcal putters.

Labwrx has some cool finishes also if you’re into colors

Really late update, but decided to send it to norcal putters after seeing some of his work on Instagram and some of the same ones that I have. Got a 20% discount since I sent my coworkers in as well. Will report back in 6-8 weeks when I get it back

Awesome. If you don’t mind sharing, what was the total price? Like a previous poster, I sent an old Newport to Scotty for refinishing. Took a little over a month, was just as expensive as buying a brand new one and not too long after the finish started to chip off and I take care of my clubs. I think refinishing with Scotty is ok if you want to personalize your club but I went and bought a brand new one not too long ago. Price didn’t make sense with Scotty to refinish.

140 for just the putter head, also getting a new grip as well. I went with the pvd finish which is the higher priced but most durable they offer

Bump
I’m thinking of getting my Scotty Studio Select Newport restored, it’s got a bunch of dings and the shaft is slightly bent from getting pissed off.
What was the result of the work you got done?

I've got a PLD DS72 coming back from Continental tomorrow. Got the head and shaft blacked out with lime green paintfill and extended an inch for $102 plus shipping both ways.

They've done 5-6 putters for me and their craftmanship and price blows everyone that I've used out of the water.

It'll be 3 weeks from when I sent it in to getting it back.
