Pelican Point...What can I expect out there?

Ive become very frustrated with the BREC courses and specifically Santa Maria. Im thinking of becoming a member of Pelican Point. I have the breakdown of costs and thats fine but its about a 20 minute ride out there and I live very close to Santa Maria. Im specifically trying to get away from slow pace of play and never being able to get a tee time. Am I trading in one set of problems for another? What can I expect out there?

I don't really have trouble with pace of play at Pelican likely due to it having 27 holes for people to spread out on. It does seem like they host quite a few tournaments out there which may be frustrating for members trying to make tee times on those days. Practice facilities are better than any BREC course and the unlimited range balls is nice. I'm not a member, but I do play it pretty often. They were offering a pretty nice new membership deal recently and I almost pulled the trigger.

I feel ya.. I live off of 42 in Pville so SM is like 5 minutes from the house.. and Since my daughter plays as well we're playing 2 rounds a week and practicing.. At 100ish per round not including range balls which was running me 100 a week for practice was getting ridiculous..

Do it.. I just joined for all the reasons above.. Pace of play is good out there ,practice facility is great there's and actual 19th hole(I like food and a beer after a round).. Plus it may be about a 15 min drive at worst but worth it considering I've cut my golf expense in half or better per month.. for better quality play.

I have a a family membership and zero complaints about PP. it is busier from all the outside tournaments, but I never really have trouble scheduling a tee time. They have a website that allows you to book days in advance too. Good pro’s, good bar that just added two full golf simulators and the restaurant never disappoints. They hosts lots of junior clinics and pga junior league as well.

Yeah,.this is a plus. Before joining I would book tee times through Golf Now app.. so the ease of going online and booking was nice.. I'm assuming most Private/semi-private courses are using this..

They played 324 rounds out there this past Saturday. So there’s that.
It’s like a nicer, more expensive SM, IMO. Layout is nothing special but greens are pretty good and challenging.
Wish they’d punch the fairways though. Hard pan galore

Is PP private or semi private now? What are green fees?

I'm still riding on that anniversary membership they had like 5 years ago and I love it. Very much worth the extra 15 minute ride down the interstate.

Sounds like we're gonna have to have a TD golf board scramble and meet up soon..

Any body have the Lakes membership? Looks like a good price for the unlimited practice, The Lakes Course, and the Links Course after 3pm..

I have Lakes membership. Just the right deal for me currently as I don't play enough to justify the Links full membership.
Lakes course isn't as aesthetically pleasing as links, but I would venture to say it is the hardest 9 hole there. And as you mentioned Links after 3pm. Just cannot place tee times as early in advance as Links members, and a couple of other things not offered that are reserved for Links members

To claim on here you hit it 300+ when in reality you are landing it on a runway at MSY

I have the Lakes Membership. I am enjoying it. It helps that a few other golf buddies joined too so we are playing a lot now.
