quote:

Speculation in Miami has linked Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Mito Pereira and Thomas Pieters with LIV. The loss of Cantlay and Schauffele would serve as a blow to the PGA Tour. Only a 72nd-hole disaster cost Pereira this year’s US PGA Championship. Pieters would ordinarily be in the mix for a place in Europe’s 2023 Ryder Cup team, a scenario that would be undermined by any switch to the Saudi Arabia-backed tour. LIV refuse to comment on individual discussions with players.

Is this similar speculation to when they claimed they were getting world ranking points? I kind of feel like LIV is done with getting big names - why wouldn’t they have switched already? I could be wrong but who knows.

I do like the team format they did. Would be nice if LIV and PGA could coexist civilly but it may be too far gone.

Why would they wait till now to jump? Coulda been gone after the Fed Ex championship.

Would be nice if both leagues got together and formed an alliance of some sort, but that won’t happen with Norman in charge.

Never know what type of contractual obligations these guys are under. I’m sure they’re all going over their commitments with a fine toothed comb. For example, if you’ve read any of what Bryson said recently, he lost out on millions by leaving mid year.

Right. The Saudi money trumps any contractual obligations if I had to guess so doubt that is stopping them.

The most interesting thing about LIV is the player movement. The tournaments and broadcasts are fairly boring and nobody pays attention.

You mean monahan right? It’s amazing the ignorance that is passed around on this subject. LIV would be absolutely fine with an alliance; the PGA is the one that has no interest.

With Cantlay's injury issues I figured he would consider it. Totally understandable for him, his daily routine just to get ready for a round is pretty time intensive.

As for Xander, he's always thrived in limited field events so I'm sure he'll do great.

Xander would be a little surprising and disappointing. Cantlay, I don't really give a shite.

They're not even close to being done. As time goes on, it's just going to be more and more world class golfers that switch for people to claim they are switching because they are washed. It's only going to get worse for the PGA tour. Their greed is costing them and they longer they hold out on trying to work something out, the more players they are going to lose.

I bet the PGA tour gives a shite. He's the 4th ranked player in the world and another blow to their ego.

Yeah Xander is obviously extremely good at golf but doesn't really have any devoted fans or drive viewership in a big way I don't think.

Still a big get on paper no doubt

I know. You're just like everyone else who dislikes LIV and has to act like nobody they get to come over is a big deal.

Well yea, because a relationship benefits them greatly while providing nothing of value to the pga tour.

That’s like me saying I’d be fine with a relationship with Margot Robbie.

So why would that not happen “as long as Norman is in charge”? It has nothing to do with Norman.

.

Because Norman hates the PGA Tour and the Tour hates him.

Norman has said FU too many times to the Tour and the Masters.

So you agree that it’s bc of Monahan & not Norman. As stated above, LIV & Norman would be fine with an alliance.

Such a shame that there’s no good players to replace the ones who go to LIV.
