Ben Hogan once said that ur left arm must stay straight so I focus on that. I also keep my right elbow close to my side and both things are money to me.

I got frustrated enough today to leave the course early for the first time. Left after 12. My “miss” is firmly in my head now and I don’t know how to fix it.

When I started a fought a nasty slice off the tee. Somewhere along the way I learned how to blister my driver long and straight.

My second shot (on a good day 90% on a bad day 100%) is a fat iron or wedge. If I’m 100 yards out on my second shot, odds are I’m about to hit a wedge 20 yards.

I was very close to listing my clubs on eBay, and as much as I enjoy the good shots, the bad ones are making the game pretty frustrating. It sucks to be the only guy in my group in the fairway off the tee, and then taking two more strokes to advance the ball 100 yards for a tough chip or putt. Not a lot of coaches around here either, so I’m at a crossroads

When putting today, I said, “don’t make it.”

Got it from Mike Mulaska.

Made several good putts.

19 putts yesterday. 14 today.

9 after work.

Been there before. Now when I get there, if I'm playing alone, I'll turn it into a practice session almost like I'm out on the range. Especially if there's a group in front of me and noone behind (which happens alot golfing single.) Best practice you can get in is on the course, so I'll play three different balls off the tee and kind of compete against each other. Makes a shitty round turn into a fun one where you get some good practice in.

Take a video of yourself and see what ur doing. IMO you must be dropping your head height on ur downswing..

Maybe your ball position needs an adjustment.
I play wedges near middle of stance.

It may sound weird, but focus on a piece of grass one inch ahead of golf ball.

Also, use a shorter backswing with more club.
Wedges are finesse clubs. Sometimes we overswing them.

I have no swing thought. Unless a hosel rocket pops up. Then my only swing thought is to make sure I feel like I'm moving my hips back away from the ball in transition to prevent early extension (aka fricking the goat)

Are you saying use shorter backswings with longer irons?

Cuz, I always tend to overswing with my longer irons. my 4I is the worst club in my bag.

Golf is such a headgame for me.

My ball striking can suck... especially on dry, harder fairways (hitting it thin) or when it's wet (hitting it fat).

I've had a few rounds lately where I was ballstriking like a champ. Ball first.. you could hear it and feel it. Felt great. But that comes and goes...
I really need to work on drills. I'm not the golf drill type though...

Feel that. My Driving isnt bad, and I feel more comfortable around the green than I ever have. But I am having such inconsistency with my irons. Really just need to take a lesson.

For me, a shorter backswing leads to better contact.

Others may square the face with a long swing, I cannot.

Golf is hard. Get a pro to evaluate your swing.

Smooth and relaxed on the way back.

More importantly though, been really focusing on ball position, alignment, and distance from the ball before the shot though because that determines a lot about what my swing is going to have to look like in the first place.

My only thought as I address the ball is keeping my head down. I have a tendency to let my head get out in front of my swing and I end up pushing the ball way right.

It’s not ball position. I feel like I’m doing one of two things. “Dropping” my center a gravity on the downswing, or not shifting my center back over the ball. I get my weight forward, but there’s a good possibility that I’m naturally shifting back and not getting my center chest/pelvis forward in a timely manner, therefore bottoming out just before the ball. Found a few drills on athletic motion golf that I’m going to try at the range this afternoon. I’ve never felt so deflated on a golf course.
