I’m also curious to see how the stats will work out. Will it be just like The Grint? If so, that’s awesome. Hopefully it’s easy to read. Also, wondering when we will be able to do hole by hole scores. It won’t let me do that yet. And I wonder if it will let us check our hole by hole scores and stats from previous rounds.

BREC sets that

Basically just laziness on BREC's part.

I agree...interested to see that. I usually use 18 Birdies for stat tracking. It’s not the greatest but it does a pretty good job for what it is.

except at places like BREC courses that just make the par 5's the 1-4 HDCP holes, the par 4's 5-14, and the par 3's 15-18.

Are you sure BREC did this on purpose? Not saying you're wrong, but that sounds strange. Most people don't understand how course holes are handicapped. It's figured out by the disparity in scores between low and high handicap players. The #1 handicap hole has the biggest difference between low and high handicap players (i.e., a scratch player is likely to make 4 or 5 on a par 5, but a 20 hdcp is likely to make 7 or 8), the #18 hdcp has the lowest disparity (i.e., a scratch is likely to make 3 or 4 on a difficult par 3 while a 20 hdcp will make 4 or 5). My club goes through this exercise every 2-3 years, and right now the par 5s are 1, 2, 4, and 5; and the par 3s are 14, 16, 17, and 18. It makes sense if you understand how the course is handicapped.

Do I have to be a club member to get a GHIN number?

Nope. You just have to have a “home” course. It can be a public course like Santa Maria.

So do I just call the course and ask for one? I golf there weekly just not a member.

There’s a fee that goes to the LGA so it’s best to do it in person.

Someone explain this to me like a 10 year old:
If I am getting 14 strokes from a certain set of tees on my home course, I am to record max triple bogey(net double bogey) for handicap holes 1-14, and record max double bogey for handicap holes 15-18?

From my understanding, yes. They have a feature in the app now that lets you record your score hole by hole, it should take care of all that on it's own.

Updated the app, but my GHIN number didn’t auto populate from my phone. LGA and USGA sites are garbage. Anyone tell me how to find my GHIN number?

Look in your email when they send you the revisions.

Your revision emails or call the club where your handicap is kept.

You add your stroke holes to the double bogey.

Double bogey is max score for everyone + stroke holes.

If you are a 1 cap and make a triple on the hardest hole, you take a triple.

From what I understand.
