If tweet fails to load, click here. So maybe professional golf will finally reunite in 2027

Not sure this is the victory lap you should be taking. He survived the initial LIV takeover and he’s still in office till end of 26. He’s leaving the PGA with higher ratings, bigger purses, and more investment than when he inherited the tour. You might disagree with how he did it, but he was successful.
I don’t think the new guy is going to play ball with LIV either, but we’ll see.

I’m waiting till after The Open to revisit our Niemann vs Aberg debate.
LIV New Orleans is going to happen at City Park.
Bryson & Rahm aren’t leaving LIV anytime soon. (Ebitda positive)
Waiting for more info on LIV’s OWGR application

You may be waiting a while since there are no reports that they've submitted a new application since the original one was denied.

Neiman is better now, but Aberg has a higher ceiling.

He could have ended LIV before it started. Instead he laughed in the players faces and causes the entire LIV fiasco. Thank goodness he is going.

He can thank Phil for this. I don't think a single PGA Tour player will miss Monahan. He did nothing to help their cause, except when he was backed into a corner and forced to do it. If Rory had moved to LIV, or one or two other top name players, he would have been fired. He got lucky.

And could easily be blamed for the reason there was even a LIV takeover in the first place. Also, they have clearly been looking for a replacement for a while and though it says he's in office until 2026, the new guy will be acting as commissioner by this summer according to ESPN.

Higher ratings that dipped under him. You can look at something like viewership for the masters under Finchem and they blow out the numbers under Monaham. granted Finchem had the benefit of having Tiger in his prime but the facts are the facts, the tour had better numbers under the previous regime. The lowest final round viewership for the Masters under Finchem was 11.7M. Lowest for Monahan years? 5.6M. Finchems worst year would have been a good year for Monahan.

bigger purses
You can't possibly think Monahan is responsible for this right? Come on.

And was able to keep his job less than a decade when the two previous commissioners had the job for 20 years each.

I think it’s awesome that someone likes the LIV product.

I'm not arguing for Monahan, but why would Masters ratings be a metric to judge a PGA Tour commissioner?

Look how Monahan saved the slipping PGA Championshop ratings under finchem

The 2018 PGA Championship final round on CBS had the highest ratings in nine years, with an average of 8.5 million viewers.

You mentioned ratings being up right? Just showing ratings for the biggest tournament in golf under Monahan vs his predecessor. Ratings weren’t up compared to Finchem, they were up compared to decades low numbers under his own regime.

That one year did not “save” the PGA’s ratings

But Monahan and the PGA Tour have nothing to do with the Masters. If anything, showing Masters ratings being down is an argument for Monahan because it shows golf ratings as a whole are down regardless of what the PGA commish is trying to do.
Again, I'm not arguing that he did a good job. I'm just saying that looking at ratings for a non-pga event makes no sense.

And I’m one of the few that actually think it was a good idea for him to move the timeframe of when it was held, I thought that was one of the better decisions he made in his relatively short tenure.
Did Monahan make that decision? The PGA championship is run by the PGA of America, not the PGA Tour.
I'll just add the last major here. He has nothing to do with the Open either.

He is going to move the Open to Cuba so he doesn't have to fly so far.
