Agreed. Recently played with two 4-somes for a bachelor party and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Onion creek is good, it was the birthplace of what is now the Champions Tour. Wolfdancer was to have held the south texas pga assistants tournament last November but lost their greens and it was moved to The Hills CC in Lakeway just outside of Austin which is ClubCorp owned so if you're a member somewhere they might could call and get you on. The Bandit is a short drive to New Braunfels and part of the same group I work for and a pretty good course. If you want to drive into San Antonio theres the 2 TPC courses Oaks and Canyons which hold PGA events. UT also has their own facility the UT Club at Steiner Ranch which is very nice.

I've played falconhead a couple of times, and always leaving having wanted a little more out of it.
FWIW, Barton Creek still has reciprocal play. So if anyone in your group is (1) alive and (2) a member at any course, you can get on by filling out a form.
That said, I wasnt that impressed with Canyons, I thought Palmer Lakeside and the Coore/Crenshaw courses were really fun and worth their fee.

So I've called up a few of the public places just to get prices and availability.
FYI, Wolfdancer quoted me at $160 while Falconhead was $90. From what I'm hearing, I don't think Wolfdancer is that much of a difference to warrant $70.
We are still working on some of the private options. The plan is to golf two days with one day being a smaller group who gets there a day early. Probably going private for that one.

Falcon head for sure.
If your group doesn’t want to flex for $100 rounds, we played Jimmy Clay in state and it was always a solid 18. Bronson burgoon shot 62. Coin flip on condition. Last I played there was 2005. Acc is drastically overrated.

I’m a 5. But it’s a large group with a wide variety of players.
Max would be $200 for me. But if we get on somewhere like ACC, I’d be willing to go higher.
