Old Front Nine (LSU) in Baton Rouge

Trying to find this one but not seeing it. Did this turn into the current LSU course?

On google earth going back to the 80's and 90's you can see some holes on the east side of 30 between Gourier and South Quad. I remember playing those a couple times with buddies who were at LSU in the early 80's.

The front nine was on the West side of 30 along with the clubhouse.

10, 11, 12 were where the Box is now.

13-18 were where the course is now and I believe there are still seversl holes now that were original. The par five along 30 and the long four as long side of it for sure.

Another extinct BR course is Shenandoah

I'm seeing this changed it's name to Little Creek and is currently open.

I drove by it last week on I-20 . . . It is not open for play. You could put a herd of sheep out there for a couple of weeks and you might be able to see the outline of what used to be a fun little course.

Played my first high school match there.

So many of my golfing firsts were at courses that are now extinct:

1st time on a golf course- Gonzales Country Club

1st time playing 18 holes - Briarwood

1st time holing out from the fairway- Howell Park

1st birdie - Gonzales Country Club

1st eagle - Gonzales Country Club

I played Pine Shawdows 15 years ago and they has the most beautiful blonde girl working in the Pro Shop.

She has to be spectacular for me to remember her and nothing about the course itself.

The next weekend I made a Double Eagle at on a par 5 at Thrash Park in Sulfur.

Actually, old LSU 10-13 were where the new Alex Box is.
10: dogleg left par 4
11: par 3
12-13: par 5’s.
Hole 14 was where the tee box next to the pro shop is now. Green was in same place as now (hole #10 now?), but hole was longer. We called it the Barn Hole. There was a round corrugated metal roof building where the putting green and pro shop are, and you could bounce it off the roof and shorten the hole. Kind of a poor man’s St Andrew’s 17th.

As of last year Meadowlake was still open as a 9 hole. Back nine is still open. You are correct that Peter Winkler owns it and does lesson and fittings for Sub70 out there.

Another course that’s closed but pretty much in Louisiana is The Challenge at Cypress Hills in Waskom. Owner closed it to public but we still play a scramble there every weekend with the owner.

Thought about this one this weekend and thought I'd just update it Monday. Can't believe someone else pulled this one

Was a fun little course. Only played it a few times in a high school tournament though so I don't remember much about it. That's some pretty land back there now.

In town for the football game in 2011 and played here. Thought it was a nice course and nice development. Surprised it closed and it’s amazing how many courses are listed in this thread.

Did they just overbuild the area?

We take a trip every March to Biloxi. The majority of courses we play are between NO and Biloxi along I 10. Did these courses start drawing the golfers?

I guess it changed names to Little Creek, have that one already on the list.

Add it to the list! List has grown pretty big.

Yea the fat retard sack of shite who bought the course tried to change the name to Little Creek. But he was such an unlikable piece of garbage that nobody went after that and it shuttered. Damn shame, as it was a fun little 9 hole track.

Grew up out here and played - even had a nice clubhouse and pool that had swim lessons every summer.

Now it’s owned by a local food producer supplying organic beef, chicken, eggs, pork etc to restaurants and retail.

Also - played olde oaks Sunday - absolutely terrible.

On the flip side played trails End in Arcadia and it’s in great shape. Also played Northwood Hills in Blanchard Saturday- decent but many tee boxes and rough fairways has not keen cut in days
