Playing at 9,000 ft this weekend. Any tips, how much farther do your shots go? Will your shots not shape at that altitude?

I created a thread on this a few months back when I was heading to Colorado Springs. Might search for it as a lot of mountain golfers chimed in. Bottom line a club or two further, however a lot of mountain courses use elevation changes on tees and greens which further complicates the issue.

Seriously you'll need to hit the range to get an answer on that

Three beers will do what six will do at sea level. Enjoy

Played Rifle Creek last week. The elevation changes on the back 9 were quite an experience for a guy from SE La.

But I wore the same clothes all day and was never wet from sweat. Enjoy the trip.

I played at The Broadmoor and found that the higher you hit the ball the more the distance was affected. For example, if I hit a full 7 iron 160 in LA and a flighted/knockdown 7 iron 150, then in CO, that same full 7iron would go 175, but the flighted one would go roughly the same there… maybe a yard or 2 more.

You're going to hit it a lot farther. I think it's like 2-3 yards more per 1,000 feet. Assuming you're a righty, balls below your feet will tend to cut. Above your feet will tend to draw

That, two clubs and less control on approaches at that elevation.

Balls wont curve as much but will have less spin coming into the green

My home course was Eisenhower Golf Course at the Air Force Academy at an altitude of 7,000 feet. We used 10%. This was back in the '70s.
