For those that have played Palmetto and Sage Valley, which is better?

Might get a shot at one or both later this year.

I got to play Augusta Country Club on Masters Saturday. It was ridiculous hearing the roars and seeing the grand stands through the trees on some holes.

I don't know about exclusive but Old Head is the most spectacular. I played it in 2001. I think it had only been open for a few years and may not have been exclusive back then. Long drive to get there but it was worth it. Had one of my better rounds on our Scotland / Ireland golfing vacation with friends and wives.

About Cypress Point: When you play as a guest, you can’t pay directly. They bill the member. And each member has a small amount of guest passes per year. Still can’t believe I got on. Definitely my favorite US course, and I played Pebble and Spyglass on that trip.

I’ve played Old Head, but didn’t list it because it’s available to the public, so I didn’t think of it as exclusive. But it’s an awesome course; on a crag of land with a cliff on one side of almost every hole. I played in a 25 mph wind, and on one hole the caddy said, “Just aim your drive at the Atlantic Ocean, and the wind will blow it back to the fairway.” And he was right.

My favorite course over there, though, was Lahinch. A true links course.

Not me but I know a guy who has played Pine Valley, Augusta National, Grove XXIII, LACC a few times, and Seminole many times. And likely many others up near those levels I'm just not aware of..

Calusa Pines in Naples, FL. Huge initiation fee. Lots of members whose names you would know, incredible clubhouse and men’s locker, caddies in the same get up as Augusta and the course conditions are damn near a good. Golf Digest top 100 and at the time was ranked behind only Seminole as far as Florida was concerned

Champions in Houston.

The Honors Course - Ooltewah, TN
Wilmington CC North & South Courses, Wilmington, DE
Wampanoag CC, West Hartford, CT (on 9/11/2001)

Honors Course is phenomenal. Built by Jack Lupton, who is a philanthropist in the Chattanooga area. His family owned the original exclusive bottling rights for Coca Cola. Club has 100 members and for dues they each pay 1/100th of the operating cost of the club every quarter regardless of how much they play

San Francisco GC for me

I got to play here as well. I was in the golf business and the Superintendent at the course let me and one friend play before the first tee time. I remember the range was tiny.
