No guest play for a bit after reopening.

I hate to say this but I have come to realize Louisiana is one of the worst states for golf
Looking at those Instagram pictures it looks like I’m playing at Stonebridge
Just flat. No character. Power lines zooming the course. Trailers fully exposed to the course.
I really hope dues aren’t as expensive to warrant the arrogance of the members. Because that looks like arse. Would maybe pay $50 to play a round. Maybe.

Yeah, the property sucks. IMHO it will be better than what was there before but still be pretty meh. I will say that I’m not a huge fan of Seth Raynor and I don’t like that most if the holes are copy cats of other holes. I also think that some of the greens on the new course are comical. Hopefully the condition is great because I don’t think the layout given the property challenges will be anything special

I can assure you there are no trailers on MCC

That's a fine opinion to have. But the way you phrased this makes me think you don't have a good understanding of what MacDonald and Raynor did 100 years ago.

Interesting word to describe them. I assume you've seen them in person to make this statement. I could see someone describing them as extremely difficult, maybe even a couple of them over the top. But they're all legitimate green complexes. I'd love to know which ones you find comical.

What areas did they decide to use TifGrand? Also what other varieties are going down and where?

To me, it’s like playing a tour 18 course. Most of the holes there are replicas of other holes around the world. I’m not a fan of that at all. Again, I’m also not a huge Raynor fan.

You find the biarritz comical? JFC, you really are a spoonbill
CB and Raynor used templates on many holes when designing golf courses. There are differences and they’re not replicas. I guess you consider Preswick, St. Andrews, Chicago GC, National Golf Links, Old White, and Shinnecock all poorly designed courses.

So Metarie CC is in the same league as these is what you are saying?

those courses have similar template holes

I find the whole thing comical. The green itself looks ridiculous. Then you are surrounded by cheap office buildings, distribution centers and Airline Highway. And on top of that you get people saying it will be one the best courses in the South. So, yes I do find the whole situation pretty funny.

In fairness, what is MCC supposed to do about that? The course itself maybe extremely nice. Airline Hwy needs some work obviously
I’m not saying it will be the nicest course in the south obviously. I have no way of knowing that.

We get it, you’re jealous so you are trying to downgrade it. To say that green or any of the greens look bad is absurd even if you’re not into Golden Age architecture. Is it rural, no? But who cares once all the fencing etc goes up and is covered.
And, I say all that as someone who likely won’t ever play it.

Obviously things like history, location, surrounding aesthetics, and condition go into making those courses superior to MCC. An interesting layout using classic Raynor and Golden age design elements can still make it a really good, interesting course despite it's shortcomings.
Sometimes I think people just like to complain. City Park was too bland and boring so it sucks, but this is dumb for using highly regarded classic golf course architectural elements. Don't know if y'all have noticed but NOLA is a flat metro. You can only work with what you have.
Or you can build boring Joe Bart layouts all over

They all have similar design elements. No, they’re not in the same league as playability due to conditioning and the original land.

It sounds like they won’t let your little dumpy arse college out there to play
