Was told the AG department can't touch the course, just offer suggestions.
Played Saturday and they were out there cutting grass but after 11am, everyone was just sitting in the club house. Didn't make any sense for them to stop since everything had dried up. At least cut the tee boxes, they were not wet.
Also they didn't tell us 16 thru 18 were closed.

I went today. I wish I would have seen this thread first.

It's unplayable. The tee boxes are over grown. The grass is so long you can't tee the ball up high enough to keep the grass from grabbing your driver head. The rough is unplayable, assuming you could even find a ball in it. The fairways are clumps of hay and overgrown weeds. The greens are a disaster.

The driving range is now closed, which is the whole reason I even went. It's embarrassing. Just go ahead and build condos on it now, and get it over with.

I belive our turf/grass program is pretty legit

09 grad checking in! I think there were 2 others that graduated with me. Haven’t kept up with the degree audit since I left, but what was in place was sufficient.

It’s more of a hands on learning job. You can read books and all that, but you have to see it for it to make sense.

Also, Texas AM, UGA, UF and loads of northern schools have superior turf programs.

The reason it’s bad is they took Mike Johnson (great pro) away. They took his salary and gave it to an accountant off site who knows nothing about golf to run it. Steve the retired plant guy is in charge and does his best but it’s run about as bad as Biden is running the country.

Then why can’t he/they be fired or reassigned and LSU HR put an ad and fill the position? Or the ag department use it as a co-op for students to work and learn and earm course credit? It’s really not that hard, it’s just a matter of initiative.

They should let everyone know before they pay with a huge sign. “This course is an embarrassment to the university and you will lose 10 balls on the fairways”. Then charge like 8 bucks.
