Where around Baton Rouge can I get fitted for a new driver. I know Edwin Watts and Golf Tech, but are there other places? Also drivers y’all think I should try out.

No certain brand, they all go about the same distance when fit, pick one you like the feel of and look of at address and go. I tried all the new stuff and went back to a 2017 M1 440 because I like the look and feel and don’t hit any of the new stuff any further, 3-5 yards means nothing if I can’t hit the fairway or GIR.

I play the Cally Epic Flash, but the Ping and Cobra F9 are great too.

Get fitted to the right shaft is the most important.

I just picked up a Callaway Rogue from their pre-owned site for $139.99 a couple weeks ago.

I love the club, but I think I'm more happy that I finally have the right shaft for my swing

I picked up a used Titleist 915D2 back in the spring and I love it. I noticed that some of the pros although hawking some new thing still use their old clubs.

What a lot of people dont understand is that all of the drivers out there are regulated or limited on the energy conversion factor of the club so all of them are capable of hitting it the same distance. What is different is how the club fits you in lie, face angle, launch, swing weight, flex, swing speed, etc... So finding what fits you may be the latest $800 stick or a slightly used gem from a few yrs ago.

You're exactly right.

I had the 2017 GBB Epic SZ with a Kuro Kage 55g stiff shaft, but was all over the place with it. The Rogue has a Hzrdus Yellow 6.5 76g shaft and I love it.

What's crazy is that I sold the Epic driver for $165 on eBay, and then paid $140 for the Rogue lol

I agree, the Rouge is a good driver with the right shaft.

OP, if you want the best fairway finder, it is hard to beat the Ping 400 GMax or the Rouge.

I went to Golftec for my driver fitting. It’s pretty well done over there. I brought my old driver for a baseline and left with a stick that cut my spin rate in half. My only complaint is that you pay the $100 for the fitting, but it’s only an hour and a half session. About an hour in, I was physically burnt and my swing was no longer a true representation. Also, it’s not enough time to truly test all available options. I wish they’d give you two 1 hour long sessions. You could compile more true data that way. But I bought a driver/shaft combo that is far superior for my swing than what I had so all in all it was worth it.

If you don’t mind an hour drive, go hit up Buddha Nguyen at Bebu Golf Studio in Gretna. I think he charges $150, but gives you $50 into the purchase price of the driver or shaft. He’s very thorough, and will frequency match the shaft for you as well for a small fee. I had a great experience there.

Just traded my Titleist 913 D2 for the Rouge 10.5.

Cobra F9

I haven't owned a Cobra club since the original steel head driver back in the mid 90s but I have heard this driver is crazy good.

I’ve been looking at their website, but I don’t know what shaft or loft I should get. I have 2011 Nike straight driver. I’ve increased my swing speed since I’ve taken lessons and worked some things out and started to balloon my shots off the tee. I usually hit it about 210 but it goes a freakin mile in the air and has no roll out. I’ve talked to some people and think I need a stiffer shaft. That’s why I haven’t pulled the trigger on a new driver yet.

You can adjust the loft and draw/fade bias on the newer Callaways, and they have a pretty good chart on the site showing the different shaft options and their torque/kickpoints.

Callaway pre-owned is the way to GEAUX. New Big berthas hit in January - May be the first club I’ve ever bought brand new.

Haven't hit much in the current range of stuff. I briefly toyed with the Epic Flash Sub Zero but my Rogue was much better on mishits so the extra distance on pure shots wasn't worth it.

Haven't tried the 410 range. But 400 Max was great.

Haven't hit a Taylormade driver since the 17 M1/2s.

Assume you can't go wrong testing Ping 410, M6, and standard Epic Flash.

Also test the Titleist TS2. I thought the 917s were really good and supposedly TS blows them out of the water.

Mizuno has actually been a sleeper for drivers since the JPX 850 but I i haven't noticed much improvement over it since.

I test that new Honma driver Justin Rose plays at PGA Superstore earlier in the year. I was really impressed with it.

Another option is to test a couple drivers through Global Golf U-try, play a few rounds of two ball to get a feel for which one you like best and then go to eBay to buy used.

Taylor made M3 for me. I tested every major driver and the M3 had the lowest spin rates for me and my mishits don’t seem to scatter as much as they used to with my old driver.

The correct answer here though is you need to get fitted for your swing, everyone’s performance will differ depending on their swing/club/shaft combination and you need to figure out what works for you
