I’m watching the LIV Spain on TV right now and I just found out from reading this thread that I’m not actually watching a real tournament. The things you learn on this board!

Have you looked at the Scottish Open leaderboard today?
McIlroy, Scheffler, Schauffle, Aberg, Straka, Rose, Fitzpatrick, and Hovland all in the top 12 coming down the stretch…... Seems solid.

Yes obviously not your typical DP Tour event…
This was the original comment that was replied to
I would say most not all

If OWGR caves on this, they will lose a ton of credibility.
Credibility?! Rahm is obviously a top 10 player in the world, maybe top 5. He’s ranked 68th on OWGR.
They’ve already lost credibility.

Only way they get this approved, is if the right people got a lot of money to give LIV OWGR standing.
Or maybe LIV will change their format & address the issues OWGR had with their original application

That was exactly my point

What’s up with the Niemann spat on here?
He might not be “top 10” but you can definitely argue he might be.

Dude, you’re the Baghdad Bob of LIV.

Let’s say they have a guy on a 100 million dollar guaranteed contract that falls in relegation. In what universe would anyone believe they would actually relegate that player? Thats why it’s a farce to call it a “tour”. It’s not
So…basically a sponsors exemption? Agreed. No tour would allow that.

tried to do the past 2-3 years is mimick a Tour that you claim isn't a tour.
How exactly did the PGA Tour mimick LIV?
If you google it, it says PGA went to smaller fields and increased purses and player impact program, and focus in top players. That's the claim to fame that the PGA mimicked LIV? That's the claim?
Edit
Don't downvots, answer the question.

Tell me the time the PGA tour have a player 14 guaranteed sponsors exemptions for a year

Or gave the player a 100 million dollar contract.
Absolutely asinine argument.

Who exactly are we talking about in this hypothetical?
Ian Poulter, Henrik, or Westwood?
Kevin Na?
With only 3 LIV events remaining those are the only “big money” guys that are in danger of relegation. Phil has talked about the possibility of being a non-playing captain for his team if needed in the future. They would all probably do something similar.
I would assume most of these guys original contracts are up so they may include a relegation clause in the next contract.

a field to what?
there isn't a tournament happening.
What exactly is the angle here? Anything less than 72 holes is not a tournament these days?

It’s definitely a tournament. But it’s a “tour” pretty much exclusively built on invitations
I don’t know how as an organization that is responsible for ranking people can give points without opening Pandora’s box
I’m sure Fowler , Spieth , JT etc would love to have started their own invitational circuit 5 years ago. Would have helped their ranking. You can’t have rankings without a complete open system. LIV just doesn’t have that, not even close

So from less golf for more money to playing 35 events on a global tour? I can’t imagine guys being on board with that. Insane amount of travel.
I may not understand what Phil is trying to say here.

Well I thought it was obvious that he’s not saying that he or most LIV guys would be playing every week outside of the 12 LIV/signature events.
Not sure why you went straight to that. Scottie & Rory don’t play 35 events

The ratings for non-elevated LIV events would be amazing
Posted on 7/14/25 at 2:13 pm to hehateme2285
In the US?
What are the ratings in US for a normal DP Tour event?
Man, y'all are terrible at using your brain.
