He is 100% right, though.

Keegan has three top 10s in 2023.

Can we stop pretending like he’s been this guy who has consistently been great on Tour this year?

Obviously there’s the JT pick that I can understand why people disagree with it. But he has an absurdly good team record. That’s why he was chosen.

Outside of him I’m not really sure who Keegan should have been in over.

IMO, everyone should feel this way. The increase of captains picks has reduced the merit qualifying, sure. But when there were 10 automatic qualifiers & 2 picks, you didn’t always get the best group of “team” golfers. And not everyone would excel in match play. Long of it is, it is what it is, play your way in automatically, Ang don’t worry about the rest…

Now they are bitching we did what they were bitching we should do

I saw this on another site. Not 100% sure it is accurate, but it looks about right.

I went from saying Jt didn’t deserve it and he is playing bad(which I still believe), to never wanting a golfer to win and play well more

If he plays and does well the melt will be glorious. Because one thing people want more than the US winning is to be right on the internet or in their articles

It goes back to the same thing you can say about everybody in every situation when they are complaining about something in golf: play better.

OP has a really dumb take. The guy said what he feels and you are bitching about it. Would you rather say a bunch of politically correct bullshite? He thought he had played well enough to earn a spot. JT has missed 6 cuts out of his last 12 events. No way in hell he deserved the spot over Bradley.

I love JT and know he’s one of the most talented players on the planet. However, if I was in Zach’s shoes I wouldn’t have the balls to pick him. He better play well or ZJ will be roasted for this pick. We all hope JT proves ZJ correct but I don’t blame the majority of golf fans to question the decision going into the Ryder cup.

Very vanilla and disappears in big events. Keegan and Glover deserved it.

He is the weakest of the picks. I guess the hope is he makes birdies and rides his match play success

Yes.

A captains pick is, intentionally, left up to the captain for the express purpose of allowing the captain to use whatever metric he desires. To complain about who a captain picked with his allotted discretionary slots is a bad look.

If a player wants to complain about a perceived flaw in the ‘play-in’ metric, then have at it. That’s a legit complaint.
But these captain’s picks intentionally don’t require any specific reason/metric.
Captain has to live with the consequences of how the team performs. That’s it.

True.

So, these guys are above reproach? Got it.

Keegan isn't the only one talking about this. There's been lots of commentators calling this a "boy's club". Keegan isn't wrong, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. Want to know a bad look? Agreeing with Strannix on basically anything
