From what I have gathered is they try to reinvent your swing and that could take years to do. You may even walk away from the game.

You'd be better off seeing a decent pro somewhere.

This was my experience! It seems like they took a class on the perfect golf swing and try to fit everyone into that swing. Screwed me up for a while.

Depends on your current skill level, if you are new to golf , GolfTec is fantastic for beginners. Their system is a modified stack and tilt philosophy. The swing analysis is basically just a way to get you into the store and try and sell you on the concept and buy lesson credits. It’s expensive to take lessons, I was basically paying $80 for a 30 minute lesson, $160 for an hour. If you have been playing for a while and have a decent swing, find a local pro that has a launch monitor and video analysis system so you can view your swing and your swing data. At $160/hr at GolfTec you can find a local pro for cheaper that can get into details of your swing.

I did the analysis, don't remember what that cost. I found it useful, they have good analytics and the guy who worked with me was knowledgable and not nuts. That said, I was amazed at the pitch for their lesson packages. I found it expensive, like insanely expensive. I don't remember the exact amounts but the different packages were in the thousands of dollars. I just remember thinking 'who pays four grand to come hit balls off a matt in a strip mall?

Yea, big sales pitch and template approach. They want to sell packages of lessons and build a swing from scratch (which means lots of lessons at insane prices). Their ‘teaching pros’ seem like college kids just working a part time job not real golf pros you’d see at a club.

Actually shocked they’re still in business.

They will also be sure to push you out the door right at the 30 minute or 1 hour mark. I had a few different lessons to where the coach just turned the simulator off and walked out. No real warning or anything. I just grabbed my things and walked out as well.

That was my experience as well.. went one time and they had so many things attached to my body it was ridiculous. Ended up finding a teaching pro that made simple tweaks to my natural swing and he was half the price.

I did the swing analysis. It fixed one major issue I was having, addressing the ball consistently.

My swing was pretty good, I was just standing too damn close and upright so I kept thinning everything. If nothing else, it got me to a point where I know what good feels like.

Then he pulled the sales pitch out for lessons. I am glad I did not pay for them. I have a friend who did and I can echo some of the 'rebuild your entire swing sentiments'. They had him working on 10 different things all at once. Way too much to focus on.

The swing analysis was worth it for $90.

I feel this as well, but I'm not any good enough to start with to complain

They'll try to teach you a half dozen different things to change about your swing, and trying to think/execute all of them at once will be overwhelming but you'll honestly find one or two things that stick and really help. They also send you videos of the session online to go back and watch later.

I did it and he opened my eyes to faults I didn’t understand. It was good overall.

Theres so many golftecs, and golftec instructors youre gonna get every possible answer. I went to one and had a good experience, ive played golf my whole life, was not a beginner and had a decent swing beforehand. I cannot at all confirm the whole new swing thing; I did not have that happen at all. I got 1 or 2 tweaks and feels to look for every other week and I loved that he didnt try to reinvent my swing and I specifically told people I loved golftec because of that reason. Their software can be helpful to use a few times on you own in practice sessions. Its not cheap, but i have no regrets, i bought a plan and did it for a few months; and now I go back every once and a while and just buy the credits i need. Also got fitted for some clubs there.

I went to a certain huge name on the Northshore few years ago im sure you have all heard of, and we literally started drilling things without ever showing my swing, was a rebuild from square 1. Nice guy, went 3 times, but completely ruined golf for me for a year or so. Golftec was nothing like that by comparison imo.

People have drastically different experiences with things though. Its entirely dependent on how you jive with your specific instructor

Greenville, SC. Very time-shareish. Did not try to start from scratch, just worked with what I had. Playing on/off for 30 years. Said no grip or alignment issues. Shortened my swing a bit, but not as flexible as I once was. Bought the basic pkg and got really good. May have helped living on GC, and could practice almost every day with drills. Chicken or egg.

Every time I went, it was like they were asleep though, "what (startled), a customer...wakes up from phone/nap", "yeah, you are in bay 3 today", while watching cfb. Never saw another soul. Last lesson was a pretty cool iron fitting (with upsell).

Do it or not, I know that doesn't help. I don't have any regrets. May do for son who wants to start playing.

RN, feel like he's perfect for younger prospects he can mold, think he's gotten a few kids to the tour. Not in the business of tweaking an existing swing though.

This, there is no way to give OP a good answer it is entirely dependent on which instructor he is seeing.

As for the "reinvent your swing" comments, I would just be upfront, I am not looking for reinvent my swing but give me some ideas of where I am going wrong and what I can work on, seems like a logical thing to tell them

My handicap dropped by about 8 strokes (low 90s to mid 80s) from my lessons at GolfTec.

I found the unlimited use of the indoor simulator to be extremely helpful. I used it pretty much everyday for 3 months while I was getting my lessons.

I tried GolfTec as a true beginner. They took my really bad swing and made it worse, then spent the last 20 minutes of my lesson time trying to sell me packages. I would not recommend them.
I got much better instructions from a local pro for less money.

I have done it. The upside of it was it fit my schedule. Weekday afternoons. Open if it rained, ect. I didn't take advantage of the practice time as it was a little out of my way. Cost wise it was on par with a local pro's monthly program. The local pro was a couple lessons per month and video critique access other times. Problem with that was scheduling. Couldn't do more than a month out. Weather dependant. You are probably not the priority client. I didn't have a problem taking off work for an outside lesson but only got a couple in about 6 weeks time.
