He may have been wrong, but sounds like you were a dick about it the rest of the round.

I mean I think it's safe to say that the guy he was popping off to is a douche and most likely cheats. I mean he gave himself the shot in a tournament. That is some douchebag stuff.

You guys know member guests are supposed to be fun?

Also, which course has a scramble for their member guest?

Y'all are a sensitive bunch. Who doesn't rag the other golfers from time to time? Part of what makes partnership tournaments fun. It's all fun to have back and forth banter.

The golf group I play in can get pretty loose on gimmes. One guy in particular has a VERY lenient range.
I do not like taking them unless they are within a foot or so, especially if I'm on my game. If it's an iffy putting day, then it's harder to take those 2 footers in good conscious.
The justification in our league is pace of play. We cap a hole a double-bogey so a two foot putt to save a point can be a lot of pressure.
I think my putting has gotten worse by taking too many gimmes. The pressure of making a short putt will make me a better putter overall.

You should see some of the old geezers at my local CC. We're playing with money on the line and they'll blow a putt ten feet past and their buddy will tell them to pick up. Absolute insanity.

I’d bet significant amounts of money you wouldn’t make the putt he missed

If he practiced as much as Rory practices he'd probably bury it

I don’t believe you ever get to sweep any putt under par or if there is money on the line.

It was a 2-man scramble

In tournament play, there are no gimmie's unless it's match play and even then, the player can't take a gimmie; it has to be granted by his opponant.

In match play, always make them put to win or tie.

It’s amazing how many 10 handicaps can miss a 2.5-3 foot putt. It happens.

Gimmes are dumb. What’s the point? You save 5 seconds? It’s like a cop-out to not risk missing it and embarrassing yourself and hurting your score

In a tournament, 18 cups must be hit. There are no gimmies. That should be a DQ.

Had a 4 ball match on Wednesday, dude said “good, good?”

I said I’m making mine but you can pick up and concede if you want to. He putted. He missed.

Only if its given to you. Typically its inside the leather, but people have so many fkd up putters now that could mean anything.

Normally I make the guy putt it until he proves he can sink it. Once its established that he isnt going to miss for the most part, I'll just give it and move the pace of play along

However, I'll make him putt it if its a nasty breaker or fast downhill putt.

Bunch of clowns in here lol. Unless it’s a club championship or something similar worrying about what the other person does is hilarious

So there's nothing between club championships and "worrying about what someone else does"

I mean, you're worrying about what rules others enforce and I guess that's okay but if the rules of any stroke play tourney say hole it out, hole the damn thing out or don't enter. It's not that hard.

Confusing response bc I agree with the end but the first part seems weird
