How many tournaments does a typical high level D1 school play in a year?

Kind of a loaded question.
Each high school is probably a good bit different.
Also, what is your definition of tournament? 9 hole afternoon matches? Weekend 18 hole tournament? Weekend 54 hole tournament?
The kids I know playing high school usually play about one 9 hole match per week against local schools and then maybe two or three 18+ hole tournaments per month.

Usually 5 or 6 in the fall.
10 or so in spring would be my guess.

High school or college?
In Texas feels like we got something like 8 or 9 tournament days per year. We also played some Saturday events. If you made regionals or state those didn't count against you.
College feels like we played 4 or 5 events per semester. Most were 54 holes, day 1 36, day 2 18. This was 25 years ago though

lol, my bad. I completely misread your post.
I played D1 golf and it was basically what others said. Fall was a shorter season around 4-5 tourneys. Spring was longer and had a ‘postseason’ so to speak.

On the girls side - my daughter flew 30,000+ mile in 2025 and played a very national level schedule as she got into so many of the high end events.
This year the plan was to cut back but it still was 15-18 tournaments when your figure in 5 AJGA (essential) and 3 USGA... And then find some Rolex ranked events
I can tell you anything you want avoid the recruiting stuff as I have one daughter( hopefully) almost through this stage...
But for D1 you want to get Rolex ranked and get WAGR eligible ASAP

LSU is playing 4 in the fall and 6 in the spring not including SEC, regional and nationals.
