Its pretty hard to aim and line up correctly. Tons of people are mis aligned/aimed even before their swing starts.

Anyone can have a good set up.

What is your routine?

Do you pick a spot in front of the ball on the target line and line up to that?

Pick a spot out in front of the ball about a foot or two away on the line that I want. If I can’t line something up on target a foot away, then that’s on me.

I pick a spot behind where my target is and a spot about a foot in front of me too.

Get behind the ball and find a spot on the target line a couple of feet in front of the ball.

Set up with the clubface lined up with the spot.

Once I address the ball I never look at the target.

I line up straight. Feel like it’s too open and close myself off a little bit. Then I hit a huge hook. Follow me for more golf scoring tips

Irons?

I only look at my target on or around the green. If there’s a tree or other landmark long on my line that’s what I’ll aim at. If not I might pick a spot at the front of the green.

People overthink it. They’re trying to aim the ball instead of swing the club.

I would say it simple, but not especially easy

8-12" in front of the ball in line with the target, square up club face, take my stance... Probably not correct but that's how I do it when I try to line it up.

Then I top the shite out of it and try again!!!

That’s my point. It’s unreal how much more complicated people make the game. And aiming is simple and easy

IF I aim toward a hazard or an OB stake, I will hit a perfectly straight ball that carries two clubs further than normal distance.

I try to aim the face toward an intermediate target fairly close to the golf ball.

Results vary.

That’s because God has a sense of humor.

I’m just glad I’ve provided so much entertainment. Occasionally he rewards my persistence

I use the Justin rose method. Stand behind the ball, raise the club up in front of me to find the line of where I want to start the ball and then aim my club face at that point

Advice from a buddy of mine who is damn near a scratch golfer, even with 1 eye.

Never hit the ball if you don't have a target & line picked out, on the range or in the round.

Stand 8' or so behind the ball to get your line to the stick or other target.

Pick out something on ground 1'-3' passed the ball that's in line with said target. Address the ball with club and "eye" fixated on that ground landmark.

Trust that line. Often I find myself feeling like I'm aimed left from this but it proves time & time again to be correct, on the rare occasions I strike the ball pure lol

I make a triangle

Pick two spots down range on either side of my intended target. Connect the dots of the triangle with the third dot being slightly in front of my ball. Even if my alignment at the ball isn't perfect, I still hit it within my aiming area.

Alot of people align their shoulders to the line but leave their hips open or closed. When I set my club down behind the ball and line up with my spot in front of the ball, I do so with feet together and squeeze my glutes to get my hips in in a "neutral" position, then I set my shoulders.

Its very hard.

It causes more swing faults than anything else.

If it was very easy game of golf would be a lot easier for everyone.

This explains a lot. I’d find a different hobby if I were you
