I went to the putting green today and for the first time had a plan versus just hitting the ball. I set up 4 practice balls from 3’ at 12,3,6 and 9 around the hole. Made all 4 with ease. Then moved to 6’ and made them all and then moved to 9’. I spent the next 30 minutes trying to make all of them and I couldn’t before I had to stop. I then setup a 4’ circumference and lagged putts from 30’ inside the 4’ circumference. If I made the putt then I gave myself 3 points. If I made a putt inside the circumference and then made the next putt, 2 points. I played to 21 and then went home.

Next time, when I have more time if I miss the 2nd putt then I’m going to get -1 points.

It was frustrating not being able to complete the 9’ putt challenge. I was able to only make 2 in a row before missing one. I struggled with not coming up short regardless how many times I told myself to give it a chance.

Don’t be too hard on yourself about those 9 footers. PGA average is somewhere around 60%

Speed Drill: I drop 5 balls along a line every 2-3 feet going away from the hole. Goal is to make, but not leave short nor run more than 2ft by. I do this in a clock pattern around a hole so I get up down and flat as well as left to right, right to left and straight.

Line Drill: 5 balls from 6-8 feet, clock patter around the hole

Finish with putting my five balls to a hole 20-30 feet away then doing the 3 foot circle for confidence from short range.

Delta Putt

This is a useful training aide that can be used at home. The instant feedback has been helpful to me when the stroke seems to go to shite. I have a real green 60 yards from my patio that I can walk down and practice on when play is slow on the course, but the feedback with the Delta Putt tells me more about my actual stroke. I do wish the little practice lane was twice the length that it is, but it works.

this. I keep a 48" metal ruler in my office. immediately lets you know if you started the ball on line or not.

I also keep a Sklz Putt Pocket in my office as well. Gets you putting the center of the cup vs hitting any part of the hole.

Putt Pocket:

That's actually really cool. How difficult is it to put on the tour side?

Go sit in cart and wait for everyone else

90% of the time I don't get a chance to do that...I'll just putt a few on the corner of the first green.

The Tour side will really make you work for a good stroke. It will let you know right away if you put a lazy stroke on it.

I believe I was at the practice area (driving range and putting) for 90 min or so. Not really sure.

4 point drill from 3, 6, 9 feet to make sure your stroke is solid inside 9/10 feet. This is where I work on fundamentals the most. Grip, ball position, strike, head down, etc.

Then reverse ladder drill for pace. I find this drill to have a much greater impact on my game than any other drill.

I decided to look this up and surprisingly it’s 41% for down hill putts and 48% for uphill. If i had to say, I probably made less than 10%. Maybe next time I hit 50 balls around the same 4 spots and see what my average is. Instead of trying to make 4 in a row, just hit 50 putts to get an average to shoot for.

My 3’ was 100% as I was able to make all 4 in a row. Tour average is 96%. Get some PGA pros!

It’s less. 8’ is 50%, 80% from 5’.

Kitchen floor. Rolls about 30 on the stimp meter. Seriously, I work on speed on the practice greens. Worry about break on the course.

Gonna be honest. I think you just spent more time putting in one session than I’ve spent in my entire life

I’ve always been a good putter, it’s the rest of the game that gives me trouble
