+8 through 8 now, damn. He tripled the par 5 14th hole. He's DFL and hasn't even started his back 9. Was really rooting for him this week

I was coming to this board to bump this thread and bring this up

Finished at +11 with an 81. Wonder how long it’s been since he failed to break 80. Hope the yips that derailed his career after college didn’t come back

One of his strengths was a big weakness today. Only hit 6 fairways.
Supposed to be changing some things up with his swing. Which we all do, but that didn’t seem like a very good idea to me

Poor guy, he seems like a genuinely good guy and it sounded to me like he is really making a push to try and become a full time pro with these tournaments he’s been in. Especially after the positive start at the DP world tour.
Hopefully he takes it on the chin and learns from this and it doesn’t completely derail him. I still think he has the game to be a pro

I hope he succeeds but someone on here said he was a top 100 player in the world and I responded he wasn’t a top 1000….

I only read the first page and jumped to the end. Was this a serious question?
If it only came down to reps, opportunity to play, and coaching my oldest boy should be in the NHL right now. Sports are hard to master, golf is hard to master. Just because you get all the training and all the reps a person could dream to have will not make them great. You have to have elite talent to be an elite player.
Maybe these guys have maxed out their talentl and at this point they are the best they'll ever be.

Dalke shoots a second round 75 and finishes dead last. Sincerely really hate that for him. Seems like a good dude with a lot on his plate right now with his wife’s health.

Yea I hate this for Dalke because now so many people will use the result to say he doesn’t have it and never should’ve been given an exemption.

I don't follow Dalke so maybe this was addressed idk but to me it sounded very strange that he decided to leave GoodGood with his wife's health as a reason and then like a few days later he is playing professional tour events and hoping to play more.
I'm probably missing something but the life of a touring golfer is probably 10x as demanding as a youtuber.

YT schedule is very demanding. They’re on the go a lot, and travel extensively

His wife traveled with him for the DPWT event and I don’t think he’s trying to be a touring pro. He’s just playing in a few tournaments that give him a sponsors exemption. He’s not going to Q school or anything.
Basically, he now controls the vast majority of his schedule with the exception of like 3 YGT "events." Good Good had a pretty hectic schedule. They travelled all the time and all over the place. The time and travel commitment with Good Good was probably much more than even a touring pro. It sounds like he's just going to do his own thing now so, if some emergent issue happens with his wife, he'll be right there to deal with it.
He's said many times he has no interest in grinding trying to earn status through traditional qualifying, but if he happened to get a sponsors exemption and do something crazy, then great.
This year his wife had a miscarriage, then lost sight in one eye, then they found a hole in her heart, then a blood clot. She's been in and out of the hospital, and that hard to deal with when you have contractual obligations where you can't be home. But lucky for him, he's made a lot of money on youtube and built a brand where he can monetize playing golf on his own time and also be there as much as he needs to be for his wife.
he got a sponsors exemption to a singular DPWT event and a singular PGA tour event. it's not like he has a bunch of events set up he has to play in. his wife was also with him at both events

I think he’s kind of half trying to be a pro and half doing his own YouTube thing.
Probably a recipe for failing to be a pro unfortunately
The reality for someone like him is if he fully committed to being a pro again, he could probably get on the Korn Ferry Tour and fight for status, maybe get lucky and get some PGA starts. Basically live the life of a fringe pro.
However thanks to YouTube he’s got some fame now and makes WAY more money doing YouTube so it doesn’t make sense to grind out full time as a pro so he’ll probably never make it
