The $6k I quoted is correct since I just wrote the check yesterday. $780 per month in dues.

Congrats on joining Riverbend.

I love the course, it will make you use every club in your bag and it will make your game even better.

I toured Riverbend last yr. Course was nice but didn’t like the vibe if you were under 50 (37). Men’s locker room was giant but the other amenities were rundown. Didn’t your Sugar Creek. Settled on Pine Forest. It’s now $15k initiation. Major renovation now for the next 3 years where they’re doing a 9 at a time (27 holes). Paying for it via monthly capital dues. Pay around $1.3k/month

Whose doing the work at Pine Forest? The place has fantastic facilities but I've never thought the course was in the same league.

Finger Dye Spann

Baton Rouge CC
Atlanta CC
Braeburn CC
Kingwood CC (forest)
Houston Oaks
Lakeside
Etc

They’re re-doing all greens, fairways and altering some of the hole layouts.

Riverbend is one of my favorite courses in the area.

Cartel woods was pushing 100k last time I checked about two years ago. I think your woodlands CC figures are off a bit as well - I want to say it was 65 for full buy in in 2021 but maybe your quote is more recent. I’ll see if I can find what they sent me.

They’ve been raising it basically month to month since 2021, it’s gone from low 20s to over 60 now. We have too many members and they’re basically trying to price people out

I’m assuming they also have a membership cap and a wait list? That’s how you limit the membership.

They say they have a waitlist but they keep adding new members. I think if the people are willing to pay more they let them in.

There’s also 3 tiers of golf members, they’d be well served to do away with the bottom 2.

If it was just the full golf population it would be nice, but it’s club corp, grossly mismanaged and all about maximizing profit.

PSA - Riverbend equity membership going to $10k October 1st. Apply now if you want the $6k initiation.

I've been a member a month now. Course is great, and the condition is amazing considering it hasn't rained once since I've been a member.

Does anyone here have any opinions on Walden Golf Club on Lake Conroe? It’s an older club, so I’m not looking for the greatest conditions in the world, but I’d still like it to be well kept. I’m 30 with a couple of little boys, so it’s be nice if there were some younger families out there for my wife and I to meet up with. If I get a membership there I also get an Associate membership at Northgate. I’ve played Northgate a few times and it’s a fairly fun course. Price seems too good to pass up. Just hoping someone knows anything about the course and club.

I lived in Houston early 1980’s and was a member of Inwood Forest. Not sure if it’s still around, but 40 years ago a pretty cool track!

Unfortunately, Inwood Forest is no longer. Now just a green space in the neighborhood

I’ve been a member at both in the past. Northgate has a younger membership than Walden. The course is usually is decent shape and they seem to have lots of organized activities around golf and the club. Walden has just recently gone back to private from semi private. The golf course is very well laid out and has some spectacular holes on Lake Conroe. The course was designed by the same team as Northgate but is much harder. In general it’s a older crowd and less family oriented than Northgate.

And they’re about to do a course redesign/update. Likely another giant assessment coming as they’ve done a ton of renovations.

I was there with my boss the day that lighting hit 2 guys on # 18 green.

I know one died and the other was hurt badly. I will never forget a guy coming into the clubhouse screaming that guys are dead on 18.

After a round with my golf buddies we counted 26 courses that have closed in and around the Houston Metro area the past 30 years.
