I have no clue about todays technology. I'm currently using a taylor made r7 with a stiff shaft that's probably 15 years old. Hit it pretty well, but distance is not good, probably average 230-240, probably eqaul parts club and my age.

I'm 55, Dont play much anymore but wanting to start back up. Back in the day I was an 8, probably about double that now, who knows, all I ever play these days are scrambles..LOL . Fade more than draw, and I don't want to spend $600...what's the OT got for an old dude to get 10-20 more yards and not sacrifice somewhat decent accuracy? Don't mind going pre-owned.

Check out Tour Edge, Cleveland, and Sub 70 for new.

For used Cobra LTDx is a great club.
Any Ping G25, G30 is fine
Taylor Made M2 was a fine club.

BUT IF you splurge the AI Smoke by Callaway is a weapon.

Calloway Paradym. You can find one good as new on the pre owned Calloway site

It is legit impossible for us to fit you into a club that will work. Shafts and heads have come a long way since the r7.

It’s worth it to go anywhere and hit new clubs and different shafts. You can always buy a year or 2 older model if that’s what you want to do.

There is no better fairway finder than the PingS.

Pure distance will probably be AiSmoke and the Qi10.

Best combination of both at a discount would be the Cobra AeroJet IMO.

It really may worth the few bucks for a fitting if you have a consistent swing. I had an R5 and if I just ordered a club I probably would have gone TM. Fitting and the TM was the worst one for me. Ping and Callaway. Ended up with the Callaway. Fancy shafts didn't help my numbers.

Ping G4XX

Let your budget fill into the last two numbers.

I’ve kinda been on a bit of a driver trying adventure lately.. so I’ll do my two cents.

Just about any modern Taylor Made will give you a similar feel to your current driver. You may gain speed or forgiveness or workability but not all three. Shaft will make the most difference. The SIM 2 line is really good, I’ve hit some of my longest drives with a SIM. The Qi10 is more forgiving, SIM feels better to hit.

Pings are very well made, consistent, and extremely forgiving. They lack distance and feel though. A shot off the center face goes straight and long; a shot off the toe goes a long and almost as straight. Feels roughly the same. If you dig the looks you can’t go wrong with a Ping.

The new Cobra drivers are fantastic. The LTDx can be had for a song and with the right shaft they are hard to beat. Great feel and sound. The dark speed is an absolute rocket launcher. More forgiving than the TM, not as long (but very close,) but not nearly as forgiving as the Ping.

The Paradym is a good middle ground. I’m not a fan of the sound but they are very well made and Callaway has some of the best support in the business. Callaway pre owned is your friend.

Titleist is the industry standard for drivers. They are all very good.

With the right shaft on any new driver you almost can’t go wrong.

Spend the money and get a professional fitting. As a guy who played for 50 years, some of those at a high level I can’t begin to tell you how much a good one helps.

You can still buy a brand new Taylormade Sim2Max for $299. It is an excellent club that came out in 21. According to a bunch of YouTube tests, there isn't a lot of difference between it and the new Qi10 for $600. The Ping G425 is another excellent choice. Not sure if you can find a new one but a good used one would be fine as well. Also, the ball you use makes a big difference. Check out the Maxfli Tour series of balls, they compare well to the ProV1 series at about half the cost.

callawaygolfpreowned.com has 35% off their Paradym drivers right now. Really good deal on a very solid driver.

Shaft is very important as well so I'd do your research on that. At the bare minimum know your swing speed so you know what flex to get.

I got a driver fitting recently and thought I could do better than my Stealth. I hit all the new drivers except the brand new Titleist, and I hit my Stealth better than any other. Best $75 I’ve spent in a while.

I initially balked at the Tour Edge driver. Shop here had them discounted . I grabbed the E523. I’ve been presently surprised . I’m 63 and not a long hitter but I consistently get 250+ out of it.
