going with the wife and another couple for no real reason other than they have a place available and asked us to join. womens are going spa hopping and get rubbed up all day, and likely other things, which frees us up for 3 days to play some golf. never been in that area other than passing through, so lets have them fellas.

October is overseed season so call to make sure they haven’t started the process before playing.

Lived out there for 3 years so my recommendations are:

Top Tier:
We-ko-pa
Troon North
Boulders
Quintero

Mid Tier:
Eagle Mountain

Meh course in a good location:
Silverado Golf Club

Honorable Mention par 3 course:

Mountain Shadows

Easy locations - never played the Phoenician because there are better options for the price and Camelback was good, but it’s a course you could honestly play anywhere.

Mountain Shadows is right on Camelback if that’s what yall are looking for.

Full Disclosure - I was a bit of a golf sicko when I lived out there - the Phoenician always had great conditions but is a typical resort course from what I’m told.

Another good option is TPC Scottsdale has 2 courses - Stadium (where the WM is played) and the Champions. The Champions is much cheaper but really solid

Troon North
We-ko-Pa

I’ve also played TPC Scottsdale twice. Played it last year a few weeks before the tournament when the stands were up. It was an amazing experience but very pricey. I played it in the off season another time and was a bit disappointed, the course wasn’t in great shape.

I’m sure many other posters have more experience out there but I think Troon North is one of my favorite courses I’ve ever played. So damn pure

We-ko-pa
Troon North
Boulders

Three good choices. I would add Grey hawk too.
I would skip TPC. Very expensive and there are better options out there.

Played both courses at Wekopa, Troon North, and grayhawk on a trip and would recommend them all. I thought the two Wekopa courses were the best, but you really can't go wrong with any of them.

Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain was definitely fun. Guess about a 45 min drive.

I usually stay at the Phoenician and play there at least one round. Love the course.

Troon north is tough getting off the tee for me but always solid. Prefer monument over pinnacle.

WeKoPa is always awesome. Saguaro is my go to.

Grayhawk Raptor course is my favorite in the area.

Tpc not worth it unless bleachers are up.

Wickenburg Ranch and Quintero are great.

If you know any elites- Scottsdale Natl is a must play.

We-Ko-Pa is great. Greyhawk was over rated in my opinion. Course was descent, but not worth the $$$$. Also, Greyhawk was about a six hour round. I don't do six hour rounds for $300.

I've always heard that the ball travels further there than it does most places. I would love to find out one day.

Other than what has been mentioned…

Kierland is solid
Southern dunes is underrated and an awesome track

Drive down to Tucson and play Dove Mountain. I am the DOG there. Let me know if you wanna play

I’ve played Troon North and Lookout Mountain.

Troon N is expensive, but awesome. It’s honestly hard to imagine how expensive it is to maintain a place like that in the middle of the desert. I will say, if you’re not accurate off the tee, you’re going to have a bad time. You’ll be okay if you can find the fairway, but it’s a tough course off the tee. Highly recommend though.

Lookout is great for a $100 option. Very unique course with drastic elevation changes. Its easier than Troon N, but can still be pretty punishing off the tee.

I didn’t get to play it, but some friends played Quintero as well and it was their favorite of the 3.

just got back - played 72 holes in 3 days

phoenician
mountain shadows
we-ko-pa saguaro
grayhawk

all four are awesome. mountain shadows is a fun 18 hole par 3 course right up against camelback mountain and the vibes are immaculate.
