Just curious what the experiences have been like on putter fittings? Where did you have the fitting and do you feel it helped put the best putter in your hands?

I’ve done two. I’ve done one with Buddha and one at Club Champion. I liked Buddha’s fitting more. He seemed to be more precise on finding a putter with a certain head weight to match my stroke. I’m working on my stroke now and plan on going back as soon as I feel the change has stuck.

What was the final outcome with the guy last year who had all the issues with Buddha?

I’ve been measured for a putter to get a general idea of length I should be using. Also, I have my putter grips placed ~2* open.

I know I like mallet putters and the rest is all feel and look.

My gamer Ping is in a long term time out while my old Odyssey is back in the back.

I did a sam lab a few years ago. I have zero technical thoughts on putting and am all feel.
I was "fitted" in 2004 by the scotty/titleist van and that putter worked very well for me until 2017/8. My putting stats had plateaued so I found a SAM lab and spent roughly half a day there. After forcing the guy to hang with me a few hours on the sim, we determined through some specific strike and skip data that I needed to use a different putter head with little to none offset because the ball was skipping too far off the face vs skip and roll.

Previously used a newport 2 switched to a flow neck (full shaft vs 1/2 shaft offset). I immediately saw a difference in the way the ball came off the face and tracked on line. I have since been lethal from 25ft. I'd say majority of my confidence is because I know when I strike the ball on the line I see, it starts there. I just wish I had done it sooner.

Tl;dr: find a SAM lab and do it.

If you’re paying for a putter fitting and golf isn’t paying your bills, then you may have a problem.

You obviously don’t bet or want to have the best options for your game. A putter fitting is $100. It pays for itself quickly.

I have done the SAM putt lab. It is probably the one thing that has helped my game the most. It lets you know what type head and neck you should be using for your stroke, as well as length and lie. I was using the wrong putter for my stroke. Once I got one with the right specs my putts per round have steadily decreased.

Considering what I just spent on a new Phantom 5.5 I probably should have.. But putting is the strongest part of my game honestly..

I see Noel is SAM certified. Is he any better than Buddha? I want to have putter fitting soon, and I am trying to decide between CC, Buddha, or possibly Noel.

How long does it take? Is it a set hour, or does it last as long as needed to be fit. I may to have it done during the week

I kinda feel like this but reading some of the replies has me curious. Problem is, I love my putter and I'm not changing it. Maybe they could tweak the loft or something but I'm not paying 300 bucks for another putter especially when, again, I love mine.

I would probably do better to get a putting and green reading lesson vs a fitting.

Exactly; drive for show, putt for dough.

I can't understand why someone would be reluctant to refine, or have a customized tool for what you'll play 30-40% of your strokes with. It's the most important part of your game and the quickest way to reduce strokes.

If you could only do one fitting, I'd do a putter fitting. You simply play the game more with the putter than any other club in your bag.

I love Mallet putters too Chappy.

I love the looks of center-shafted and flow neck putters, but I have trouble pushing the ball.

Recently I went back to a heel shafted double bend putter and the bad pushes stopped.

Currently using a Odyssey OG White Hot # 7 with pretty decent success. Something about that White Hot insert that really helps me with my distance control.

* Might be strange but I have never been a Scotty Cameron fan and have never owned one.

Its a damn good putter.. Thats why I went with a phantom 5.5 when I upgraded.. Same overall shape except a completely solid forged putter.. I felt I was missing out on feel with the #7 that I now get with the Scotty..
