Heading out that way in a few weeks and am planning to play a few courses. For now, I've got Kiva Dunes and Peninsula booked. If I can only play twice, are those the two best picks?
It's possible I may talk my way into a third day, but I might just spend the rest of my time on the beach.

I don't see the need to go up 59 to Craft Farms if you're anywhere on or South of 180. In short, yes. Kiva and Peninsula would my be choices.
If you wanted to add a third day I would suggest Peninsula again but when you book the tee time, request to play a different 9 from the first time you played. Because they have 27 holes you would only have to play one 9 twice. The other option if you wanted to save money would be Gulf Shores Golf Club also on 180 but theyve gone up in price the last few years due to being the "cheaper" option in the area. It's a nice track but not on par with Kiva or Peninsula. And FWIW, I prefer Peninsula over Kiva.

Yea top 2. Kiva definitely. Im not a huge fan of Peninsula personally, but conditions, food, etc are always good

Do not drive over to FL and play Lost Key.
But it always happens when a group of guys cant find another tee time and they head over there. If that's you, just bring an extra box of balls. frick that course.

I’m only playing 18. How does that work? Will I be able to know which two courses I’ll be playing ahead of time?

Usually not. You can make a request and they're usually good about granting it but they don't normally tell you until the starter sends you off.

Anyone know how GSCC is looking these days?

Played it last weekend, very wet but in pretty good shape. A little more playable for higher handicappers versus the Kiva grind. We enjoyed it!

Oh yeh…. Get the lube ready. It’s kind of a double edged sword…. You want the wind to blow to keep the gnats off of you…. But you don’t want it to blow because it can eat your lunch out there.
If it’s blowing 15-20 coming off the water it can get a tad rough. It’s basically blowing across you on every hole. It’s almost always in great shape though.

Anything over 10mph Kiva is frustrating as hell. Good shots turn to shite in a hurry. I took it out of the rotation

If it's windy, we just move up on the tees. One of the biggest issues there is pace of play and it's mostly due to too many people playing the wrong tees for their ability.
The one up Blues (which too many people play that shouldn't) at 6500 ish is too long for alot of the people that play it and to be quite honest, I think more people would have fun on that course if they played the greens or a white / green combo based on their handicap.
If you're a 15 or higher, play 2-9 and 12-18 from the green and play 1, 10 and 11 from the white.

Kiva is so overrated!
Peninsula is great.
It is worth your while to drive over to Fairhope and play Rock Creek.

Gnats used to be brutal at Kiva, but I haven’t noticed any gnats at all since one of the hurricanes got rid of all the brush between the fairways.
