So, I went ahead and joined Greystone today. The course has grown on me over the years and I’m finally playing at a level that I can enjoy getting around a golf course.
Any advice or information from current members that you guys think I should know? Unwritten rules? Priority groups you don’t wanna hold up? Looking forward to meeting some of you guys.

There are a few groups out there. Just be nice and chill and you’d fit in with any of them. For the old group, it helps if you’re racist. No unwritten rules or anything. Most groups play really fast. Play ready golf. Get used to playing well at this course and your game will travel well.

Well, it’s Livingston Parish so sadly I would expect that out of an old group. Not racist at all, but that aside I play from Gold so I doubt my game would fit in with that group. Thanks for the reply.

Not a member but I live nearby. Play it often as a single or with a few friends, never had a single issue with anyone

When I moved here I joined Greystone. Have made some great friends out there and have had the most fun of my golfing life playing there. May not always play well but have always had fun, easy going groups.

Ah, the good ole veiled “racist” remark.
Never play Webb if you’re afraid of some racists.

This is so true - the lower single digit guys at GS can go play anywhere and shoot decent scores.

What was veiled about it?

It’s a known fact that Ell13 hates children, old people, and dogs.

Whoa man. You’re completely wrong about dogs.

Actually, they have done a really good job on getting them back in shape. #11 is still a temp green but the real one should be perfect for Spring. The approach edge on #12 had small rough patch but is also filling in well. #13 is looking much better. The only green that I didn’t see much progress on was #18, but it is an isolated area that doesn’t come into play much. These greens are all in an area of the course that was hit hard in the flood.
I think the course is gonna look great in the Spring.

quote:Youre right about your assessments on 11-13. But they are letting the right side of 18 become fringe. Those tall pines won’t let grass grow well there so they’re not going to fight it. I’ve rarely seen the pin on that side anyway.

Why not cut the pines down? They don’t come into play on that hole and would help dry out some of 10 fairway.

I feel like y'all have been talking about these greens for 2 years or more now.
WTF is the problem? How can people not grow grass in South Louisiana?
