I did the research for my golf group to do a trip in late august this year. 8 of us. We compared pebble, Brandon, pinehurst, Brandon, sand valley, TPC sawgrass and streamsong. Have it narrowed to PH and TPC. these two give us the best bang for our buck over 5 days. What are the boards opinions. We know it will be hot at either but so is Louisiana. Some of us have played PH and one has played TPC. Thoughts?

Pinehurst is a much better option than TPC in my opinion. Eight courses all together versus just two. If you want to play elsewhere around Sawgrass you're driving down to the WGV about 20-30 minutes.

That time of year, I'd fly up to Milwaukee and play Black Wolf Run and Whistling Straight.

Man, you probably decided on the absolute last 2 choices I’d make for that time of year of your slate of courses. Reset and do Sand Valley or Kohler. Fricken Glorious up there in August

We did Erin hills and whistling straits a few years ago. That is why we looked at pebble and Bandon.

Bandon /thread

Seriously though I haven’t played there but a friend did and I lived vicariously through him. He’s been all over and said this was in his top 3.
I’d go pinehurst over tpc. “Better” weather and prettier courses IMO

Good luck getting a Bandon reservation for August. It would still be my vote. I'd go 1. Bandon 2. Sand Valley 3. Pebble 4. Pinehurst 5. Streamsong 6. Sawgrass.

Between those I’d go to NC

For me bandon would be 1 and Pinehurst would be 2.

I don’t think it’s on that level but I went to SC and played a couple courses along with harbor town and it was awesome. Was a last minute fill in for my Dad’s crew when someone dropped. Had a great time.

I may be in the minority but Sawgrass didn’t do much for me. I don’t understand the lofty ranking it gets.

Agree regarding sawgrass. It’s pretty cool but not earth shattering

Agree with the blackwolf run/whistling straits suggestion. I’ve done those a couple different times and loved it each time.

If determined to do sawgrass you can incorporate sea island into the trip

Why you'd pay $500 to play a course under construction is beyond me.

Pinehurst. I've never played tpc sawgrass but PH was awesome. All the PH courses, Pine Needles, Mid Pines, Tobacco Road, and other area courses give you so many more options than TPC SG

BANDON.
Fortunate to have played there twice.
Best golf experience in my life.
A Bucket List must.
5 top 100 courses and a world class short course.
Courses. Food. Service. IMO, nothing compares.
