What's the worst you have seen at your club?

Zach Holland, a former college golfer who now reportedly is a 2 handicap, told ESPN Radio in St. Louis that he placed his golf ball in the cup at the par-3 fourth hole before the start of a membership event at WingHaven Country Club, located in O'Fallon, Missouri.
Holland then lied about acing the hole during the tournament and offered the ball as proof of a hole-in-one to his playing partners.

I'm kind of surprised this is getting so much traction on the internet. There's no discussion to be had. The guy clearly cheated, and his plan was terrible. Usually, you see these stories get big when sides form on the issue.

His plan was pretty outrageous. Psycho-level shite. That’s where the traction has come from.

The only part of his plan that he did not consider would be if the maintenance building had a camera or not. It was next level thinking with everything else, how in the hell do you leave that out?

Thank you for posting this. Guy is not thought very highly of in the STL area, according to a few friends of mine. He's allegedly done this two other times and has been kicked out of two different clubs.
I'm more surprised this didn't make it to the OT.

If you cheat at golf, you will cheat in life !
When we use to play with 8 guys, we had one guy that would always pick up his ball anywhere " Indentify " it and of course he improved his lie.
We finally had enough and stopped asking him to play.

How does this happen? Was the par 3 their stating hole? Was there no groups in front of them who noticed the ball and where did his tee shot go?

Did you have a thread on here awhile back about this? I remember the dude getting bent out of shape when he was called on it and his score tanked after the rules were enforced. Or did I read that somewhere else with similar circumstances.

Apparently they were the first group off. The guy had gone and staged the ball in the hole before the round. He told his group he may have to bail for work at some point in the round. "Got a call" on the hole before the "aced" hole and left the group but then he was on the next tee and told his group he didn't have to leave after all and he decided to tee off. They asked him how his shot went and he said he hit it a little thin but it was on a good line or something to that nature. Then they get to the green and the rest is self explainatory. Thats the gist of what I understand.

Yes and he still hates us today .
Everyone was in agreement about him and was tired of his antics.
Since then, we know of two other groups that refuse to play with him.
The sad part is that he is a good player and he doesn't need that advantage, but he can't help himself.

He said he'd tee off first, and then join the group on the green later in order to keep up pace of play.
By the time he joined his group again on the green, he said he told them that he "thinned" the tee shot but wasn't sure where it went. The group then found the ball in the cup, assumed he had hit a hole-in-one, and started celebrating.
Eventually, staff reviewed security footage that showed Holland driving near the fourth green well before his scheduled tee time. He then admitted to faking the hole-in-one, and resigned his membership.
"There's no excuse for what I did, and I was completely in the wrong," Holland said. "There's really no motivation. Just complete stupidity, and we were giving two shots back to the field and that's not an excuse. There's no excuse for what happened."
Holland was in the first group of the member tournament, which included a hole-in-one prize pot.

Wouldn't this be prosecutable as (attempted) contest fraud if there was a hole-in-one prize pot?
