About as good as #13 Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood talks about his experience watching LIV Las Vegas from outside the ropes:
"They are obviously doing pretty well for what they are. The players seem to enjoy it, seem to enjoy playing on that tour. One of the first things I noticed was that everybody seems happy, chilled, relaxed. There are certain things I wasn't used to. The music, I don't know how I would feel about playing with that. Beyond that my biggest takeaway was that it was just another golf tournament. Everyone seemed very professional and working very hard. It's basically just a bunch of people who you knew out here that are now there. So many things have just carried over."

Up to 10 LIV golfers in US Open after Eugenio Chacarra made it through qualifying yesterday.
Garcia is first alternate for the Dallas group
Reports from a month ago claimed 35 LIV golfers were trying to qualify.
13 attempted yesterday, so that leaves 22 remaining to try & qualify on June 3rd. Including Joaquin Niemann, Graeme McDowell, Jason Kokrak, Burmester, etc
LIV Golfers in 2024 Majors so far:
Masters - 13
PGA - 16
US Open - 10
Open - 13

You realize he can't play on the PGA Tour right?

I want the top 15 or 20 Liv players in every major going forward. I don’t care that they have left the PGA and took the money because I would’ve done the same in their position. But the majors are much better with those guys in the field, so I hope we can figured it out and Continue getting the top liv players in all four majors.

Top 5, sure. Top 15-20, no.
Paul Casey, Leishman, Schwartzel, Steele, Na shouldn’t be near majors.

Burmester & Puig were the only two LIV golfers to qualify on 6/3
Sergio has been added to the field as an alternate, bringing total # of LIV golfers in US Open to 13.

7 LIV players “should” qualify for Olympics this year. Hopefully, they can maintain their spots on OGR until June.
14 qualified back in 2020.
Only 6 qualified for Olympics.
Cam Smith (#68) was pushed to 1st alternate for AUS
Mito Pereira (#272) was pushed to 1st alternate for CHI by Cristobal Del Solar (#195)
Kalle Samooja (#444) got pushed out for FIN

I guess Mito is in after all. 3 members of Torque GC make the Olympics.

Can’t really argue for Cam Smith to get in over Day or Min Woo

According to Datagolf, the aussie’s are still correct.
Only guys who seemingly got screwed by OWGR are:
Bryson (USA #4, Datagolf #6)
Tyrell Hatton (GBR #2, DG #17)
Louis Oosthuizen (RSA #2, DG #34)
Thomas Pieters (BEL #2, DG #139)
Sebastian Munoz (COL #1, DG #134)
Anirban Lahiri (IND #1, DG #142)
Scott Vincent (ZIM #1, DG #228)
Kalle Samooja (FIN #2, DG #299)
5 of those 8 were in 2020 Olympics

Pereira will replace his countryman Cristobal Del Solar, who was on the initial field list released earlier this week by the International Golf Federation.
Del Solar, who earlier this year shot a 13-under 57 at a Korn Ferry Tour event, opted out in order to focus on chasing a PGA Tour place. Pereira was the first alternate for Chile. Pereira said he and Del Solar discussed the possibility prior to this week, and that Del Solar confirmed his decision a few days ago.
“He wanted to get to a certain number of points because obviously he’s fighting for his PGA Tour card,” the 29-year-old Pereira said. “It’s not that one is more important than the other. Obviously trying to get to the PGA Tour is his main goal. He made that decision and I think it’s very smart to do it.”
Pereira competed in the men’s golf competition at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, which were postponed one year due to Covid. The former Texas Tech player was one of seven golfers in a playoff for the bronze medal

Kieran Vincent should have been selected for Zimbabwe as well as he is the top player in that country. He finished 16th in 2020 but the OWGR point system has relegated him to 3rd alternative now.
Posted on 6/21/24 at 11:42 am to MrLSU
I think older brother Scott is technically better, but yeah it’s a shame for those who are literally the best golfer in their country to miss out bc of OWGR
Vincent’s in Zimbabwe
Lahiri in India
Munoz in Columbia

Blandy’s now in the US Open next year as he’s just cleaning up on the Champions Tour.
