First time breaking 80!

Broke 80 for the first time ever yesterday at Carter. Been playing decent the last few weeks, but would hit a bad shot on 2 holes that would cost me. Round started bogey-bogey then I figured it out. Made par on every par 3. Hit it to 4 inches on #8. Had a birdie putt on 18 for 78, lipped out, carded 79 (39-40).
Its nice when it all comes together one day.

Great job. Congrats! Always good to hear about new lows and personal best.
I only do it about 3 times a year.
Seems like 80/81 are more frequent.
I was nowhere near best today, but did have an eagle putt(made birdie).

Congrats! Always a great feeling to get that under 80 round under your belt. Now that you know you can do it, Im sure you will break 80 again!

Appreciate it. Yeah hopefully the dam breaks loose.

Congratulations, it's a great feeling and quite the accomplishment .

Congrats...if you don't mind me asking (not hating), what's your handicap and what tees did you play from?
One of my all time best rounds was there as well from the golf/blue tees (11.4 index)

Awesome work..congrats.
I'm still stuck on 80 as my career best. Best probably half a dozen putts for 79 and came in at 80 probably a dozen times but for some reason I need a double bogey somewhere like a post round beer.

Congrats!
My first time breaking 80 was a 76, playing it 100% down. Best part was, I was playing with my Dad. I still have the scorecard.

Followed up my 79 with an 85. Hit the ball horribly, only hit like 2 greens, but scrambled my butt off and made every putt inside 12 feet. Golf is lunacy.

I shot a 74 in 1972 while stationed in Japan. I was one under thru 15 holes but bogied the last 3 holes.

Hope you saved the scorecard

SO yesterday, there I was standing on the 16th tee at Tchefuncte +6 and ready to close out par / par or at worst bogey / par for that 78/79
Pulled the tee shot left...no worries, 16 is a tough par hold anyway. Just get it out, run it up short of the green. Done.
70 yards left to the green and right in the top of my swing my brain goes on vacation and for some reason I think about AC/DC. Don't ask me why but it happened.....chuck that shot and it goes about 60 yards into the bunker.
Get out, two putt for my double and headed to 18 now +8. I need a birdie here and 18 is a good opportuntiy. Absolutely bomb it (for me), dead center leaving me about 200 out with a great look.
Instead, I hit it fat and it rolled about 30 yards.
No worries a-hole..settle down and hit this 6i to the center of the green.
Nope....left the face open and shanked it by the cart path.
Okay dickhead, 50ish left (you would know if you didnt lose TWO range finders this month). 60 looks good but play it more like 55 to be safe. Grab the 56, keep the backswing around your knees and your good.
NOPE, left it short right into the other bunker.
HEY IDIOT...up and down from the sand to save bogey is the only option.
Well, I'm out but blew it 30' past the hole.
From there I drain a big left to right sweeper right into the hole for a dramatic and anticlimactic bogey for an 81.
It was my day, I knew it but abso crumbled.

I broke 80 earlier this year while playing with my son. Was playing the Falls at RTJ Magnolia; finishing in a rain storm with a birdie on 18 for a 79.
Broke 80 twice more since then. Wonderful feeling and only took me 40 something years to do it.

I broke 80 for the first time last year. Followed that up by developing a habit that resulted in a consistent hozzled shot about 8 times a round resulting in 90+ scores for about the last 6-8 months. I've finally worked my way back down to mid to low 80s. Once you get a taste, you just can't put it down.

That’s great at Carter! Greens have been blazing fast. Congrats.
