3 of the guys I golf most frequently with I met on the course. They were a single and wanted to join up.

This may be controversial but I got my wife into golf and she is obsessed. I could rarely play due to spending time with the family on the weekends but golf is now a family event.

Yea, I'm not out there every weekend playing with the boys but I am still playing 5x more than I was before and it has been pretty damn fun.

Bogey,
Where do y’all normally play and what’s your handicap?

I’ve started trying to play more, I normally play Sunday mornings if the group has an open spot. If not I started trying to find a decent deal on golf now.

Wow, not many Leagues in BR when you try to Google it.
Maybe start with SPARK. Nice after work nine-hole league. Very fun. I have meet several golfers from it.

SPARK

Beat me to it. I met several reliable partners playing Spark. Ours is a Wednesday night, 9-hole league. You get a league handicap. It's a 'fun' league, and it is fun, but we have some known pencil whippers which is annoying.

That could get pretty expensive...

I'm lucky I have a few guys I play with weekly.

Spark is fun, although the scoring for team points this year made it impossible to catch up after the first few weeks. Last year’s scoring was way better at keeping everyone competitive through the whole season. Played Wed and Thu nights this year.

I did this

Learned to hit fairways, chip and putt playing with that guy. My scores dropped dramatically.

I moved from a club C scramble player to a strong B or weak A in the weekly scramble games…and my handicap plummeted.

After a couple of years, I had to play in the club championship flight - that sucked. But I would occasionally beat some of the college golfers (one round not a two day tournament).

I am old man now and can putt like a MFer.

100% agree.

We asked the league how the points are divvied up this year because it makes no sense, why did you change from last year's format, etc. They couldn't describe it very well. IMO the new format, essentially a free-for-all mad dash for points is designed to get people playing every single week. They wanted to throw that "your top 8 rounds" format out the window.

Another headscratcher: the new scorecard. Holes on which you get a stroke, default to a bogey. Misleading for those not paying attention. Why fricking do that??
