We're a mere 7-days away from kicking-off what will be, undoubtedly, the best golf tournament hosted in Austin this year. There is still room if you would like to play - just let me know.

DETAILS:

What: The 1st Annual CENTX TD.com Golf Board Invitational

When: November 6th, 7th & 8th

The event is spread out over three days - Friday, Saturday and Sunday in beautiful Georgetown, TX!

Friday: 11:20 & 11:30 tee times

Saturday (The Main Event): The first group goes off at Noon, then every 5-10 minutes after. Golf will be followed by dinner for those that are interested at a place TBD in Georgetown.

Sunday: At least one tee time - probably around 8:00 depending on the number of people that want to play.

Where: Berry Creek Country Club, Georgetown, TX

DIRECTIONS TO BERRY CREEK

Cost: $45 gets you green fees and a box lunch. $25 additional for the prize fund. $70 total. You will settle with the course the day of. The clubhouse has an ATM if you need it.

Format:

After going back and forth - I've decided on a Quota Format. The explanation is below, but I think this will be the best format based on the varying level of players we have and since it will not be a team event. It's a pretty fun way to score.

I have a few of your handicaps already, but I will collect them again Saturday morning before we play. For those that do not have a handicap - we will have to make a decision on Saturday amongst the group to determine what an acceptable handicap will be for you.

If the numbers hold, we will have $600 in prize money to split. Regardless, the payouts will be as follows:

1st - 40%
2nd - 30%
3rd - 20%
4th - 10%

So, what is a quota format? Well, glad you asked.

quote:

Quota Format Handicap Is Subtracted from 36, Golfers Begin at Zero

The points earned per hole are the same in this version of Quota, but all golfers begin with zero points.

In this version, golfers subtract their course handicap from 36, and what remains is the point total they must beat during the round:

A course handicap of 10 results in a quota of 26 (36 minus 10). So that golfer is trying to beat 26 points.

A course handicap of 24 results in a quota of 12 (36 minus 24), and that golfer is trying to beat 12 points.

Again, the winner is the golfer who exceeds his quota by the most. If the golfer whose quota was 26 finishes at 30, he is +4. If the golfer whose quota was 12 finishes at 17, he is +5.

Holes are worth the following:

Bogeys - 1 point
Pars - 2 points
Birdies - 4 points
Eagles - 8 points

Looking forward to it!

Where on the course/clubhouse do we meet on Saturday?

That should work out well with my ~15 handicap when I shoot an 87 with 4 quads, 13 pars and a birdie.

DAMN IT!!! I had to go play last weekend and shoot in the 80s for the first time in over a year, and it dropped me from a 15.4 to a 15.1. That's gonna cost me the tourney FOR SURE!!!

Have you thought about dinner options for Saturday? George's has large outdoor seating area, decent selection at bar, and might be one of few places in area that could accommodate a large group. Also close to majority of hotels in area. Just a thought (plus all experiences there have been good).

Thanks for organizing Sir. My leave is already approved for Friday

Has arrived in Houston and can't back out now. Said his GHIN at the moment is a 19.1. I think he's bagging, so double check that.

Will we all be playing the same tees, or will tees be determined by handicap too?

I think it's fine for everyone to play the same tees...which will be blue.

I have...I'd like something with a TV so we can watch football. I'm gonna go by 600 degrees tomorrow to see if we can get about 15 people in that dining room on the right hand side.

I think something on The Square would be good as we could do other things if people wanted after dinner.

Why not play stableford net and gross?

Your tournament. I’m in anyway. I’m there for the good times not to make $.

Is there a scorecard on the website? I can’t seem to find one.

Question. Since the groups won’t matter for scoring, does anyone want to play with anyone else?

Obviously, guedeaux and guedeaux's +1 along with GRTiger and GRTiger's smelly, old dad will be together... any other requests?
