Favorite Golf Betting Games

After watching too many NLU videos, me and my golfing buddies have started playing different betting games with our rounds. We typically play wolf, but do it as a scramble. Have also played Nassau and are doing a skins game this weekend.
Being a below average golfer, I find the betting games to make the rounds a lot more enjoyable since one bad hole doesn't blow your day. I'd be curious to hear of other games or variations of games that the GB plays.

Haven't played it but their modified stable ford game Tilt looks like a lot of fun.

One of my leagues we play modified stableford. Double bogey is a scratch. Pick it up. You’re playing against everyone vs your points. So 30 points to make, you shoot 32 (4 over par) then you are +2. It allows all skills levels to compete. We adjust points weekly.
My other group we play wolf with some trash. It’s a blast! I especially like the snake!

Hammer:
Two teams, start the bet on each hole at, say, one dollar. Either team can drop the “hammer” at any time, before or after anyone’s shot, which doubles the bet. Once a team has hammered, the other team “owns” the hammer, and is the only one that can hammer. This can go back and forth as the teams re-hammer back and forth. So, it becomes advantageous to own the hammer; a team can hammer after its good shot, or after an opponent’s bad shot. A great time to hammer is right before an opponent ‘s 4-foot putt to tie.
This game can get expensive, as each hammer doubles the bet. You can also have birdies double the bet.

Wolf is the most fun game I have played on the golf course. If players are mostly equal its okay with 4, But playing with 5 the most fun for me

My favorite is just plain old wolf.

I've been researching a lot of games lately. We have a group of 7 going to Scottsdale first weekend in May. It'd be nice to get to an even 8, but this a pretty tight friend group, and none of us want to throw the dynamic off by bringing in 1 guy. Our group varies from a +3 to a guy who just started playing again after a 5 year hiatus, and there are a mostly mid teen handicappers in the middle. The only game I have been able to find that would be a good one for 2 separate tee times with such a variance is Quota.
You subtract everyone's course handicap from 36. Then, you get 8 points for an eagle, 4 for birdie, 2 for par, 1 for bogey. Whoever goes over their quota the most wins. It will just be tough ironing out a handicap for 3 of the guys that don't know what theirs is. I'm thinking we'll probably just play separate games for each tee time.

In every article I've seen, I am always surprised when they say the Wolf goes last. That seems to take away the fun of the game. We play that the Wolf goes first. If he goes blind, the bet triples. If he calls wolf after he tees off, the bet doubles. If he picks no partner after the last tee shot, it's just a straight bet 1 vs 3. I know some will force the wolf to go with the final tee shot if he doesn't pick the first two, but the way we play results in more 3 vs 1 opportunities.

Yeah wolf always goes first. Never heard of last. That seems dumb

I've never played wolf like that. We play exactly as you described. We also randomly reorder every 4 holes (or 5 if playing a 5some). After 15 or 16 holes (depending on size of the group), low man is automatically wolf in order to try to recoup.

Yep. We always kept order the same during the round and low man was wolf on final 2 holes. Seen some crazy shite happen by bad golfers on those last two wholes
I really think that’s the fun with wolf. We never played any crazy money. Just looking to have a good time. Normally a person that had a rough day came out winning money. Could play your balls off and lose a few bucks.
I have seen tilt on NLU. Looks like a fun game especially if you doing it on a trip over the span of a few rounds. Honestly don’t have a group anymore to play many games. Me and Tigerbru just go out and have fun. Maybe do a scramble every once in a while

That's how we do it. We typically play for a pot and not per points. So the most points just gets the $50/$100 pot.
If you are playing for points, I have seen where the low man gets to change the cost per point on the last few holes to try and win their money back (or lose exponentially )

Yeah most of the wolf games I played were in college when we really didn’t have much money. (Still don’t I guess). So we played for pretty cheap mostly just ended up being lunch or beers after
Played a few times with buddies that played college golf. I would by far be worst in the group and somehow come out on top
Played what we called trash a few times. I’ve seen it have different names. Pretty much all the hole bets. Greenies polies sandies. Long drive in the fairway. A bunch of other I can’t remember. That was normally fun

I've played dollar a hole or a Nassau type bet structure. My problem is you never win enough or lose enough to warrant pulling out cash. It's basically 1x or 2x whatever the per hole bet is because it simply trades back a few times. We could raise it to $20 a hole, but that feels like it could get reckless if someone gets off track, which seems to rarely happen.
Wolf is a lot of fun because you can get some big swings, you just need people to go lone wolf. If no one goes lone or blind, I don't find it to be that fun.
Wolf Hammer from NLU looks like fun, but you have to have a group committed to learning it.

Only problem I’ve seen with wolf hammer is seems like there’s so many bets it’s hard to remember what all goes in. Big learning curve. I’m sure it’s fun
I love wolf because of the constant switching of teammates. If someone having a bad day you aren’t stuck with them( or then with you) the whole day.

We like skins.
Hard to beat everybody.

Yea. It's a challenge. Keeping up with what the side bets and junk isn't as hard as you'd think. But scoring takes an accounting degree and two-three years experience at a big 4 accounting firm.

You live in Dhan or just from there?
I moved out here a few years ago and live around the corner from Cypress. Fun course to play, just wish the greens were in better shape or quicker.
