There’s a ton of pushback online and X about all of this. Will be interesting to see if ANGC keeps moving forward with this or if there are still some traditionalists there who want to dial this bullshite back.

I haven’t read the whole thread but has Marty Smith been mentioned. I feel like this is a NASCAR event now. It used to be so exclusive. I don’t think they should even show the Par 3 tournament. That should be left for the players and patrons. Just show highlights.

From what I've seen there's a board that votes on most things. I'd guess the board has been taken over by people loyal to Tiger, ESPN, etc. That's the only way they'd be able to push this stuff through.

And it’s probably unfair to him. I don’t really hate the guy but that shite today was a jumping the shark moment for the Par 3 contest.
Even the Waste Management dialed it back when it started to become a parody of itself. Augusta needs to do the same and I agree, it starts with telling ESPN to settle down.

It’s almost like they’ve tried to turn the par 3 contest into the waste management or a LIV tourney. It doesn’t fit the vibe of Augusta at all.
