That is what I love about the cuts. Doesn't matter who you are. If you aren't good enough that particular week, then no weekend golf for you.

Also, does anyone care if the bigger names are playing on the weekends when they are 15 strokes back? I sure don't. I just want to see the leaders whoever that may be.

Tell me how this helps the guys in the 70-90 range

There will be fewer top 30 players in the non-designated events. They stand a better chance of winning those than they did previously

So you think those guys are happy with the change?

To be fair, that’s only one more day

So now we get to see a player top 70 play Saturday 12 strokes back, and sacrifice a Nick Taylor being at the top of the leaderboard

Yay! Progress for growing the game and for the fans.

I love max, but his points fall flat

“It’s more of an opportunity for the top guys to battle it out on Sunday”. If they were competing before, they would have already been there on Sunday…

“It’s more of an opportunity for the corpse of a top guy to be there on Sunday” would be accurate. And he says like 10 times “I can see why it looks like a money grab” is kinda telling as well….

But who gives a shite? The top players had the opportunity to use leverage. I would have done the same damn thing.

And yes, I still really like max

Agreed 100%. Still not sure why anyone would want to watch Rory, Spieth, or even Tiger on a sunday when they are 15 strokes back some weeks. I only care about the leaders at that point.

I feel like his point is more to the designated events thing in total, which is true. Designated events make it more likely for good players to be in the same field. But I’m with you that I don’t like it coming at the expense of other players getting into the field. I think 100 or 120 is fine. I just don’t love 70.

Did he say that the regular tour would be making the same money as elevated events?

The brand sells and PIP players in the elevated events say all that needs to be said about it. I assume that leaves only enough room for the top 50ish if Tiger and all the famous PIP players get in automatically.

Homa said exactly what Tiger and Alfalfa have already said. I think the other natives left out in the cold will remain restless.

Agreed. But that was already established this year. The change announced today is not a good one for the fans IMHO, it’s for the players pockets.

My worry is they will work to slash that number down even further as well…

Shouldn’t the WGC be in there for the no cuts?

the changes happen after the first year of LIV and you want to credit WGC? Also, why are these no cut events getting OWGR?

I do t like it, but I am starting to see why they did it. If they can guarantee to a sponsor that the biggest names will be there for 4 days then they can charge more for the sponsorship. I thought the WM and Riv were awesome. I don’t see why they feel like they need to change so soon.

I’m saying for the meme….It should be LIV and PGA looking at the WGC. I’m sorry it upsets you to point out LIV didn’t invent limited no cut events. In fact, last summer you couldn’t help but point it out over and over and over again

Someone go bump all the threads on here ragging on LIV about this

Should signify that LIV will be getting OWGR points too considering that was two of the biggest criteria for them not getting points.
