I don’t think they’ll get rid of both the SA and Austin events. There’s been lots of chatter and hope Houston would get back in the spring, who knows, but it doesn’t really matter now with how the fields are set up as it would be an event similar to the Honda Classic last week if it does. I think it’s much more likely Houston loses its event entirely than gets any status event.

No matter where it is it would be a shame to lose the match play/star studded field event. It’s great to watch and attend.

This is interesting but not sure how this makes LIV some sort of greater product or puts them in any better position. I don’t have a dog in the fight and don’t care the PGA just seemed to have slapped LIV in the face and there’s nothing they can do about it. They’re stuck on the child’s network with no viewers and no fans in attendance. The PGA just secured all of their top talent.

I hate hate hate limiting fields in the designated events. Pretty much every move the players want “shrinks golf”. I know the rich players just want to get richer, I get it, but for the fans and the game it blows

It validates that PGA believes LIV is a good product & is a competitor.
Why is PGA making this move? To make it more attractive to fans, to give fans the opportunity to see more of the top players playing in more tournaments together. Things that LIV has already done by changing their format & having the same 48 players each weekend.

Not sure about that. They will always have the option to choose where they want to play once LIV gets OWGR pts.

Remember when the PGA tour said they weren’t going to change anything at all? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
And Pepperidge farm remembers how all of these changes were going to help the journey man poor golfer. All we are doing is helping the top guys make more money, which is what it has always been about regardless of what they sold you in the press. A few lucky middle tier guys got to ride the LIV money train at least due to the top dawgs telling them no

During one of their recent pods, the NLU guys discussed losing the matchplay in Austin. They love Memorial and suggested that it should just take over the matchplay in the same slot. I know it's just podcasters spouting off, but I would love that.

It validates the pga knows it has to get more money in their top players hands so they don’t leave. Period

Fans are losing their events across the board all over due to this shortly. It hasn’t been good for the fans outside of a few events where the best players now all play together.

Sure, but that’s not all. Listen to what Max Homa had to say about it. It’s about putting a “better product” out there similar to what LIV is doing.

A no cut event isn’t a LIV phenomenon. The WGC was already doing that. They aren’t doing this for the fans. They are doing this for the top players to get more guaranteed money

If you don’t think this will raise the money for guys in that 150-40 world ranking range, I don’t know what to tell you. Everyone is going to make more.

Tell me how this change makes the product better

Having less players in the wm and genesis makes it better than this year? How?

We’re you watching the WM and said “geez, I’m pissed this Nick Taylor guy may win. I wish he wasn’t even invited to play. That would have made this product so much better”

Outside the way the PGA is reinventing itself to stop the bleeding when LIV gets its world ranking points, it's going to once again check everyone's true motives and convictions for playing golf. I think it's going to be the next big catalyst for change.

I’ve shite on LIV for awhile, so I will do the same to the PGA Tour now.

I hate no cut events.

I already did, but I’ll post it again for you. You can hate it all you want, but it’s the truth. You just don’t like it cause you liked it how it was before.

Explain. They aren’t adding events for the top players to play together. They are just limiting the fields the top players were already designated to play

All this does is take players out of those events, it isn’t adding anything

Bc it’s about the top players. Nobody was interested in the Honda last weekend bc the lack of top players.

At the Genesis, you only got to see Sam Burns, Si Woo Kim, Kisner, Hossler, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, etc play only 2 out of 4 days.

LIV gets to see DJ, Koepka, Dechambeau, Cam Smith, etc play every round at every tournament.

It’s about making sure the fans get to see more of the top players playing at these tournaments.
