Calm down internet badass, Dechamdouche isn’t winning as usual, but he hits it far in the rough a lot. Awesome approach to 18!

Yeah 66 man choke city, worst choke job ever. What a hot take.
clown world
79 players teed it up in the final round and four of them had a better round than DeChambeau but he choked right?
Champ and Koepka choked

Well, if doucheambeau really did love the the science and numbers of golf like he claims then he would look at morikawa. Doucheambeau has become so insecure about his beef with Brooks it’s embarrassing. Morikawa won by hitting a ridiculous amount of fairways and he was #1 in proximity to the flag and #1 in strokes gain putting. We’re all happy that he wants to be a long drive champion: till he learns how to hit fairways consistently and not have a trash wedge game (and it is absolutely trash) then he won’t win. And when there are fans in the crowd it’s gonna make it even harder for him to do so.

John Daly was doing it way before him with a much bigger gut and much less technology.
Go watch the 2005 playoff between Tiger and Daly at Harding Park. One of the holes Daly bombs it 340-360 over some massive Cypress trees right in the fairway and big dicks prime tiger by like 30 yards.

Well to be fair, you can train your way to higher ball speed. The sort of hand eye coordination Morikawa has is god given.

I agree but, players who are the elite of the elite all are elite in part due to their wedge game. Guys like DJ and Koepka and woods all hit it a mile. What separates them is they also have phenomenal touch. You can hit a 360 yard drive. But if players are putting it to 5 feet from 30 yards behind you while you put it 15 feet with a sand wedge then it defeats the purpose. The Douch is a really good player. I don’t think anyone can deny that. But somehow a player who fancies himself a science and numbers lover of the game can’t figure out that his wedge game is as important if not more important than his driving distance.

I think he acknowledges it, but its not like he can make a big change midseason. I would be shocked if he didn't change something in the offseason like go back to shorter wedges.

His drive distance is impressive no matter whether you're a fan or not. What's not impressive is his accuracy. I'll take a 300 yard drive in the fairway, over 360 God knows where.
Driving is roughly 15% of your game. Putting is 40-50%. Irons and wedge shots are the delta. If he's really a numbers guy, he's focused his efforts on the wrong numbers. His putting is nowhere near the top, and his wedge and iron game are not consistent. So he may SAY he's a "numbers guy", but that does not make him analytical by any means.
Bulk might help gain distance off the tee, but bulk doesn't help accuracy and doesn't make huge gains on approach shots. My $.02 is he would have helped his game way more by focusing on approach and putting shots.

I also wanted to point out that Dechambeau did not lead the field in driving distance this week. Cameron Champ had him bested by 7 yds when they showed the graphic yesterday.
*They were both still playing so the numbers may have changed slightly but 7 yds is significant on a weekly average.

While Dechambeau does hit bombs. The PGA tour only records driving distance on two holes per event. So Champ was the Champ on those two holes all week.

He's taken something that he has total control over to give him an advantage on the course. By that I mean he's added to his physical strength in order to hit the ball further. That's something that everyone out there could do, but he's gone out and done it.

You don't think he practices as much here as he does off the tee? He added driver distance organically, by adding strength. That hasn't made his wedge game or putting worse, he's just improved what he could physically improve, and there's no denying that it's made him a better golfer is there? Bryson hitting it 305 off the tee is still a shitty wedge player and hot and cold putter. The added distance off the tee does help make up for that though.
I'm not a Bryson fan by any means, his schtick is tiresome, but getting better with your wedges and putter comes through practice on the golf course. He was able to get better with his driver through weight training and diet. If anything it really should give him the benefit of spending less time with his driver and more time in his weak areas when he's practicing. I'm just saying I don't think it's fair to say he's focusing too much on being long off the tee just because he got strong as shite. He saw a path to improving an area of his game physically and took it.

He hasn’t just been weight training to add distance. Have you watched any of his training videos. He spends hours swinging as hard as he can at the ball trying to get more club head speed. If he spent that time working on his short game maybe he’ll win more tournament

Have we discussed his driver loft in this internet pissing contest?
5 degrees I believe.
