“Customer Service” Experience at Dicks

Went to Dick’s today for a variety of shite. Was going to get a bunch of golf balls and look at a cheap set of beginner irons for my gf (lefty).
They had zero demo clubs that were lefty so I grabbed a top flite PW that still had the paper on it for her to swing a couple in the bay just to see if she could even make contact with them. 2 swings in a “salesman” comes over and tells us we can’t use it because it isn’t a demo club. I say I understand that but you don’t have any lefty demo clubs and her swing speed is about 8 mph so I think the club is ok.
He responds and says we’ll the simulator is broken so you can’t use the bay anyway. We didn’t need the simulator anyway but he just ushered us out the bay so I told him we won’t be buying the clubs or anything else here for that matter.
I understand these guys aren’t salesmen nor do they know anything about golf but Jesus, no wonder they’re having to discontinue golf equipment left and right. They don’t even want to sell the stuff. Sorry, rant over lol

Though I agree with the premise, this guy was likely just doing the job he was told to do. He's probably already been yelled at for people hitting new clubs, and was told the hitting bay was closed for the day. It could be horrible service, but I don't think this is too atrocious on the outset.

I get it, he probably was told to do this. I was upset at both him and Dick’s. They barely sell any golf equipment and have been continually discontinuing golf equipment - and they instruct their associates to do this instead of say, “hey man we may have some demo clubs for you” or “I’m sorry but the bay is temporarily closed can I help you with anything else”

Seems nitpicky to me. Did you expect to get a fitting type experience at Dick’s? They didn’t have any demo clubs and you knew you shouldn’t have hit a new club you just didn’t care. Maybe go somewhere with a better selection.
Usually when a store doesn’t have a demo of something for me to try I go somewhere where I can, I don’t start ripping things open, that’s rude.

I didn’t rip anything open dude. I specified I left the paper on the club just to see if she could make contact with the ball. It was quite literally exactly the same as hitting one of their putters that still had the paper on it. We aren’t talking about 100 mph swing speed damaging a brand new club.
I did not expect a fitting type experience. I expected not to be told to go away when trying to buy a product from a store that claims they want to sell a product.

Substitute "Golf Galaxy" with "Dick's" and this is my exact experience almost every time I go in there. And I refuse to shop at Dick's since they went woke.
Golf USA is my go-to for most things golf.

The Academy down here has went the other way and basically became the place I go to buy balls if I'm in the area.

The demo bay was not closed. There were balls and clubs in the demo bay. He made that shite up because the simulator that we weren’t even using was broken.
Also, if you’re going to use this logic you shouldn’t be able to use the putters out for display either.
