Is there an actual reason for generally letting the person who scored the best on the previous hole tee of first or is it just simply etiquette?

The only answer I know to this question is "because that's how they do it on TV"

I honestly don't give a shite who hits first. It should be whoever is ready.

You mean besides the golf gods inflicting serious bad karma upon the person who jumped in front of the guy who just made birdie?

I’m all about ready golf, but I won’t tee off before someone who just made birdie. It’s one of my superstitions.

I'm not good at golf by any means, but people who blast really crappy music annoy me. Also, as I tend to find myself in them a lot, people who don't rake their bunkers after hitting.

This CV situation hasn’t allowed bunkers to be raked which has annoyed me - I hate leaving a messy bunker

Honors is just the system created. It’s simple and it works. Usually no discussion is required unless you’re not really paying attention to everyone else in your group.

To me there is not advantage to hitting first. Not really an honor to hit first. Other than to put pressure on your opponent .

People blasting music on the course?
I’ve only seen that a couple of times in 1000+ rounds in my life. Some courses might even ask you to leave.

Playing music too loud. Busting out the bluetooth for 18 holes of bro country. My cousin does this.

I really wish this hadn’t become a thing in golf.

I think he doesn't know the rules because he clearly stated the gentleman one putted for par.

The guy that wants to hit 18 cups. Inside the leather and you're not playing for money? Pick it up and move along.

I’ll disagree here. That’s the best time to practice those putts.

We play ready golf too but i don't like when I get a triple and the guy with the birdie just sits in the cart. That's one of my main grip. I can always be the first off the tee because my playing partners just sit in the cart even after I hit. I was thought by a group of old guys, first or last off you better be on the box with a ball and tee in hand. Missed those guys
Also it takes me 10 seconds to hit the ball after it is teed in the box, it don't take me 10 practice swings and a minute looking down the fairway to hit a good or bad shot.
Rant ended.

People go weeks or months between having to actually make a 3 footer and then wonder why they struggle with them when they count.

Blasting any kind of music on the course bothers me. I’m not sure when a Bluetooth speaker became such a must have for golf. I’ll never tell anyone anything because I don’t want to be ‘that guy’, but if you can hear your music outside of your cart, then you’re a problem.

Also multiple carts blasting different music in the same group as well as the guy that leaves his music blaring at the turn while he goes in too get his 4 course meal at the grill.

Yeah, not sure what his issue is.

Up and down after a tee shot in water hazard is par on a Par 4

Apologies... drop 2, hit 3 then two putt is what I meant and then they claim the 4.

Sounds like a 4 to me.
Laying 2 at the drop, hit the green 3 and one putt for a 4.

Yea I screwed up my explanation, but the fact remains that the guy who doesn't count his penalty is the one that gets me. Should've said 2 putt for bogey and says he got par.

I am a mid to high 80s shooter. I have been for a long time and don't play enough to really change that. So I don't get into money games. So to me, obvious gimmies need to be picked up when there is another group waiting behind you. I'm not talking about when you have the time to work on those putts without slowing anyone else down and I'm not talking about a 6 footer with two way break.

I get that everyone wants to have a fluffy bunker... but lets face it, the sand is supposed to be a penalty. The fact that you can get an unpredictable lie is the penalty.

I always rake my footprints and the spot of impact, but I don't get upset when someone else doesn't.

I'm all in on no rakes or at least the wooden rakes with space between the teeth. As you said, bunkers are supposed to be penal and especially how rough is these days, you'd much rather be in a bunker almost every time.
