Roger is at 1757 - best club fitter in northern Virginia which is why he’s booked solid - but try to get squeezed in - may be worth going there during work hours on a weekday

Update: Fitting was overall a disaster. 4 hour fitting only lasted 2 hours. When I got in there, I was being fitted by a 20/30s prep school kid (he told me about it). Was very non social while I was trying to small talk with him in between hitting the ball. He couldn’t take his eyes off the travelers open or helping other customers during my fitting so that was annoying. As soon as he saw I was a 30-40 handicapper he basically slapped me in Dicks sporting good irons and put me in a ridiculously overpriced shaft for about $3000. When I asked him what we were testing out and what he was trying to accomplish, he told me not to think too hard about it. So basically I had no idea if I needed a lighter shaft, lower kick point, weight, etc.. he never even fit me out for a driver or woods even though it was part of the package.
When it came to putters, he straight up told me it’s all marketing and pick what I thought was the coolest looking head. Of course they only had spider tours and Scotty Cameron’s to test so that would’ve been $350-450 minimum for a putter. They also only had like 4 lefty putters.
A lot of what I read was right. They seem to make their money off of shafts and push you into overpriced shafts. I ended up calling customer service afterwards and telling them the fitting was a disaster and the wedge I ended up going home with was outrageously overpriced. The customer service rep was likewise super unprofessional or helpful and just forwarded me back to my fitter. I basically told him $350 for a starter cavity back wedge was pretty outrageous.
Again, I totally get that at my handicap, maybe a fitting wasn’t for me right now. But I was there on a deal CC offered and wanted to take advantage of it and try it out. Overall just a horrendous experience and waste of money with a very non helpful fitter.
ETA: this was out at the ashburn store FYI. I was told by whoever booked me that my fitter was “one of the best in the industry”
The bonus is because we wrapped up early I was able to book an afternoon tee time when we got home. Ended up one blow up hole on the back 9 from shooting under 100 for the first time. So that was pretty nice.

Why did you buy it? Sounds like you knew better.

I had to buy one club or sink $400 so I was at least going home with something. Told him to give me a vokey (which he wouldn’t even let me test in the store) with the highest forgiveness bounce/grind and call it a day. So at least it’s a quality club I can have for a long time. I’m considering calling them back and seeing if a stock shaft with a custom grip counts as a “custom” club so I can save some more money.

Should’ve bought a putter and kept it in the plastic and resold it.

I had a bunch of clubs from a relative that I can’t use that I was able to trace in with Taylor made. Got a spider Ghost last night that’s toe balanced for like $90 with all the trade in credit.

Personally I can't stand Club Champion and I refuse to give them business.
Thier pricing is so out of whack it's ridiculous. I know that I can fit someone better than the CC near me.

Buddy of mine just got fit and they fit him into a $795 driver

Not to hijack the thread, but how do fittings go on those days where a Titleist, Ping, etc. rep comes to a local course for fittings?
Seems like it would be a lot lower pressure type situation?
I seem to see more negative than positive reviews of CC and the likes, and have had a lesson one time at a PGA Tour Superstore that was kind of a shite show, so I’ve grown skeptical of going in those places to do much more than dick around with putters.

shite, 795 is cheap for a driver from anywhere if you upgrade the shaft. My driver with a Ventus shaft was around 1k after tax direct from the manufacture.

It's all about the fitter,
^^^ THIS! The person that does the fitting is the key. CC, GolfTec, PGA Superstore, etc,, all have pretty much the same equipment. Just matters who is doing the fitting.

apparently he used to do my new clubs private fittings on Titleist day but is now semi retired. Just found this out today. Too bad.

I did a driver fitting at the one on veterans and was not a fan. I’m sure people have good experiences, but I was not one of them.

When I belonged to Sweetwater CC here, some of the members were blind crazy about CC.
These guys with way too much money were being fitted into the worst combinations of heads and shafts.
It was unbelievable. One guy was put into hard stepped stiff shafts and his normal 7 iron distance was 145.

Don’t disbelieve it. My whole experience from start to finish was awful. A total waste. I wanted to give them a shot because I’m a left and it’s hard to find a place where I can really test out a lot. But it was clear they just wanted to juice some money out of me for way up charged shafts.
The dude was also highly judgmental and really didn’t let me test out much of what I’d have liked to.

For me at least flex is less about distance and more about control
