I got good use out of the clubs for what I paid for them. As a beginner I thought it was the best choice and the most economical one. However, my game has improved(my handicapp is currently 18) and I plan on purchasing a new set in the near future. I'll be in Vegas in a few weeks, can you recommend me a good golf shop?

My dad has played clones his entire life, including putters. He is just now switching to name brand drivers and woods bc the store where he bought clones for 30 years went out of business.
He has 2 course records, 6 hole in ones, and 3 double eagles with his clones.

I think some snake eyes and maltby's are good beginners club, I'd go that route over clones.

Which goes back to my first post. Get a set of (real) Ping or TaylorMade game improvement irons.

So, those of you crapping on clones, you've never played any, have you?

That would be my guess.

My first set were king snake....When I got older, I tried them vs king cobras and it was pretty off.

I got down to a 10 when I was in my early to mid teens playing with clubs not worth more than the bag they sat in.
I speak from experience.

This.
I played with a crappy set of King Snake irons growing up and whenever I splurged on new equipment, it went into a driver or my woods. About 3 years ago, I got fitted for some burner 2.0 irons. Best decision I ever made.

I bought my first set off of craigslist for $30 cash. Came with a stand bag, all irons, both woods, 2 drivers, a putter, SW and PW, and nike gloves. They are the knight stratos clubs. After playing with some Diablo improvement irons, they are fricking leaps and bounds over what I have...but for $30 I can't argue at all. The drivers are decent. They are both older burner 2.0

My brother-in-laws Uncle used to make clones, but he handmade everything in his shop and was a former pro. I was decent when I still played and couldn't tell a real difference between my legit Pings and his clone Pings. So, I guess, like with all things, it depends on the maker.
Most of the time I think you are getting cheap knockoffs, but if you can find someone who knows what they are doing, you can get a set for probably 30 percent cheaper that will do near as well.

The truth is that name brand golf clubs depreciate fairly quickly for the most part so you can get some cheap real deal clubs that are a couple of years old
I paid 400 dollars for a set of taylormade tour irons that were 900 bucks retail and they were less than a year and a half old

These are the kind of clubs I am looking for right now. I think I may start with a used set of irons first. I am reluctant to get rid of my driver, because I've been smashing the ball as of late.

I haven't bought a new golf club in quite a while
The used ones are just too good of deals too often
