I know it’s only 9 holes but is it worth playing?
I am relatively new so high handicap

It's a perfect place for a beginner. Short holes. Cheap. Generally not packed.

I really like it. It's got some fun holes, some blind shots and it isn't in terrible shape. The greens are typically slower, but it's a really fun walk.

Unless you go during a pandemic, in which case you need a tee time on the weekends.

They needed to blow that hole up and start over instead of dicking around with 5, 6 and 9.

That's one of the better holes on the course. I've played countless times, taken any number of clubs off the tee and just finally figured out the line. That's the sign of a good hole, imo.
But if they wanted to make it easier, take out the tree at the bottom of the hill. Lightning took half of it out already. Just pull the rest down.
I also think they need to pull the 3 bunkers out. Just grass them in.

my latest approach on 7 is to just blast driver over the top tree and have it settle somewhere down there to the left of the tree on the bottom, but if I hook it its gone

Driver between the tree and the white stake. Bounces off the hill just beyond the tree. But if you cut it, it's gone. But that tee box promotes a draw, so that's why I start it there.

It's not the tee shot that bothers me as much as the green that's roughly 100 square feet in size. Make the green bigger (like what they did to 5) and give it some undulation. And lose the bunkers.

It used to be bad, but they have trimmed all the trees on the left

It is $9 to walk. Playing golf for less than a ten spot is tough to beat. It also has some of the only elevation changes in town.

You mean you don't like the roots on the green on 7. That's some undulation right there.
The hole is fun, the green is too small.

I had no idea. I love watching their stuff.

As others have said on here, it's great for beginner golfers. Every time I take my buddies on their "first time golfing," I take them to City Park. Hole 4 has a great view of the lakes (whenever they aren't scummy). No Par 5's, so if you lack confidence with the driver like I do, it's a fun course. Cheap af too

Honestly it’s one of my favorite courses in the city. Not the nicest for sure but it’s a nice walk and a fun links style course. Greens are pretty damn slow but they’ve been giving the course a lot of love.

I'm not sure your definition of links is correct, fun course, yes. Links style, not really.
