IF I hit my very best drive of the day, it will be in that range.
My longest measured drive of the year is 269.

I’m not a big hitter.

Made a 15 foot birdie to half my match with a guy Sunday who two putted the hole.
I wish I could bomb it, but I’m not getting any younger.

My index was at 2.7 last day of Men’s League.

My avg competitive round is about 4 over
My avg non-competitive round is about 7 over

Sounds like you aren’t confident enough to drop bombs and lay up

You can’t even fly the hazards at my course with 230

Honestly don’t even know if my Dad taught me this term. Not sure how you lay up when I’m 200 in on 95% of par 5s. Usually greasing a 8i into par 5s.

I don’t even lay up basketballs. Dunkin’ and bombin’ always, Winnie.

Your mom loosens me up the best. She gives me 20 bucks every time too. I credit her for my length.

Only hackers avoid laying up at all times fwiw. Best players know when to go and when not to.

I’m not the best. And I’m certainly no hacker. My course management is on point.

I’m just not the kind of player who is forced into weighing laying up very often.

I get the stigma especially when traveling and playing new courses. You’re not there to layup but to hit big shots. But sometimes we miss the way the course was intended to be played and end up in places with much more trouble making things much less enjoyable than they could have been. I say “we” because I’m longer than most. My home course has those kinds of options. I can hit driver less than 5 times and shoot better than when I use it 10. I’d love to see you come play it and never lay up on your way to a 90.

ETA: Berry Creek, being shorter and with some odd turns and tree-lined on the back, was very much like this. I shot 84 day 1 using driver almost exclusively and knowing nothing about the course. 80 day two being a little smarter and less drunk.

That’s what makes golf fun. Having to play different shots and strategies. I’m not saying I NEVER lay up. I legit can’t even remember a time that was an option for me though. It’s been a while. Unless i butt frick a drive I’m never more than 250y(3i or 4i) out.

2 of the 3 videos I posted are off tee boxes. I use iron a lot Bc many hole drivers and 3 wood are to much club.

It's always an option. Even if you're 200 out, you can always hit wedge, wedge.

At 2 Hundo I’d probably just butter up 7i and be done with it.

My yardages aren’t dictated by math equations. They are dictated on how far the ball travels. And at sea level in GA it’s 230-245y with a 4i.

That swing I saw in that GIF ain't nowhere near powerful enough to hit a standard 4 iron 240 at sea level.

Legs too skinny, not enough power off the ground, not enough lower body rotation.
