Headed to Charleston next month. Any advice on best course(s) to play?
Probably looking to stay under a $150 round. I know the Ocean Course will run you about $500+ a round and my group certainly doesn't like golf that much.

Play the Osprey Course at Kiawah, then drive over and shop the Ocean Course pro shop and eat there

+1 for what Wahoo below said but I’d also take a look at Patriots Point. It’s near downtown and a good track. Probably around $100 from what I recall. Also, Stono Ferry. Further out but another good course. 97% sure it’s where CofC’s golf teams practice. Looks like that would run you around $75 depending on when you are trying to play. Enjoy

If you are willing to go over $150, but not get too crazy, Harbour Town is really brilliant. $289+ when unplayed, but may be cheaper seasonally.

Patriots Point is pretty close to where we are staying, but I have not been seeing rave reviews online. However, I know the golf community is often incredibly harsh.
Stono Ferry looks very nice. I saw they listed it as the #15 best course that is open to public play in SC

Patriots point was my favorite round when I was there. It was also my best score so there is some bias. Stono ferry was a great track. It had some historical markers on it ecause there was a battle fought there which was cool. The other rounds I played were shitty courses I don’t remember the name of

Patriots Point
Played the Ocean Course and Patriots Point on a bachelor party this summer.
Obviously they are not comparable but Patriots Point was fun and in good shape and under $100 if I recall. Great course for the money.

Patriots Point is a lot of fun for decent price

I played Patriots Point in December, would not recommend it at all. The last 5 holes were nice, but it was in rough shape. Check out Wild Dunes.

Lived there for a little bit and played just about every public track.
As mentioned, Stono Ferry is a great course. Solid views of the intracoastal on a handful of holes. Just a little far for the out of towner.
The Muni on James Island is extremely nice since the reno last fall. Don’t sleep on it. Great marsh views and 5 minutes from downtown. Can be relatively difficult to get on and tee times are available the week before.
Of course any of the Kiawah Courses are great.
Wasn’t really a fan of either Wild Dunes courses for the price. However, the views from the course are probably the best for marsh and water in town. Played the links course on a very windy day and it was no joke. Wind can rip off the water.
Enjoy Charleston, great place.

Charleston National
Dunes West
Wild Dunes Links (last three holes on the ocean)
Wild Dunes Harbor (three holes along the Interncoastal Waterway)
Links at Stonoferry
All are public and better than Patriots Point IMO.
