Hey - I live in Nova Scotia and am travelling to New Orleans in March. I am new to Seth Raynor designs and love his work. I am wondering if anyone here can give me some help on playing Metairie CC?

TIA

Call pro shop

Metairie shouldn't be too hard to get on

There are much better courses in the New Orleans area.

But if you want to get on at Metairie CC just call the pro shop. They'll probably let you on if you pay the guest fee.

Highly unlikely. And, he wants to play it because it is a Seth Raynor course.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Yes, the reason I want to play Metairie is because it's a Seth Raynor design. I'm a bit surprised at how little love it's getting here, but am still interested.

I do plan to play some more golf in the area. I've got a couple ideas, but welcome suggestions.

OP - if you have trouble getting on bump this thread in mid-February/March and I'll reach out to my friends that are members and see if they'll get you on with them.

It's not getting love because it is a truly private course. Like the poster above, reach out in late Feb./March and I'll help you out.

When exactly in March?
Tell us about you and your game.

A little about me:

LSU fan. Have travelled to multiple football games.

Avid reader of Tiger Droppings. Have started threads and posted in the past, but nothing lately.

Love golf. Member up here and a member of Shoal Creek in Birmingham, AL.

Thanks for the offers to help.

Have your pro at Shoal Creek call Metairie and speak to David Marchand. I would imagine they would be happy to reciprocate. Enjoy!

OP, you’ll probably be disappointed in the topography of the course. It’s dead flat and prob a little tighter than most Raynor Courses. It’s on a tiny piece of property.

The green sites and bunkers are really good though. Punch bowl, Road, Reverse Redan, Double Plateu, Eden. Don’t remember a Biarritz or a thumbprint.

Hope you get to play!

Thanks folks. I'll speak to my pro at Shoal. He's arranged reciprocal's in the past. Thought I would check in here first.

If I don't have luck with him, I'll be back. Appreciate the help and advice.

LaTour is probably the best course in Louisiana, design and condition wise.

Edit: wait is LaTour private now? It's been a few years since I've been there. I cant find tee times anywhere, do I need to call?

If you're a member at Shoal, they can easily get you on. Be prepared, MCC gets a lot of hate for its design, but I love it. The condition can be hit or miss but it's an extremely unique course. While you're down, you absolutely have to play New Orleans CC. It's one of the true gems of the South along with Shoal, CCB, Annandale, etc
